How my dad influenced my shopping habits

I picked up a bad habit from my father when I was growing up - if I ever went shopping with him he would have to visit every shop that sold the item he wanted and compare prices...hours spent walking round half a dozen shops, looking at the same thing, only to inevitably end up back at the first shop!!

It didn't help that he had long legs and I was only little, so I had to run to keep up!! But now I do the same, be it physically or online. This weekend I visited several shops looking at clocks, but the worrying thing was to find that even two shops of the same brand had different prices for the same product...now is that deliberate or has someone not updated something correctly???

You never can be too sure in this day and age, when someone always has some kind of offer running, be it bogof or half price or 25% off and so on and so forth....what is a genuine offer, what isn't and what is quite simply an error.

Considering in store price changes can now be made in as little as 30 seconds from one central point, pushed out to all stores at the click of a button and then the price label be physically printed & in place in less than 2 hours, surely this lack of clarity or consistency shouldn't happen, (unless deliberate of course) ??!!

So, while I thank my dad for teaching me to shop around and get best value, I can't thank him for the fact that I can never just see something and buy it, trusting that without shopping around, that I'm making the right choice and not being ripped off!

Though it has to be said it keeps me fit I guess....I still walk everywhere fast as if I've got little legs and I'm keeping up with Dad.
