How Often Should I Publish Content with Inbound Marketing?

So, what is content marketing and how do you get started? It’s content. It comes from you. You all have expertise. You’re an expert at something. What are you an expert in, and what could you produce content about?

Some of the first things I would do, if I was you, and I didn’t really know, but I had an area, I would go out into your space, and see what the theme is. There’s something going on. Are they relevant? Are they up to date? Some people are the same thing for ten years. Some people don’t change. They don’t edit, they don’t modify.

I think you need to stay relevant. What’s in your industry? What are people talking about? Right now, we’re in a recession, we’re in an inflationary period. We also have high interest rates. What’s that doing?

So, what do you want to talk about?  I would go out on social media first, and I would start doing some posts. I would start just having some quick, one-minute Instagrams, or a quick post on TikTok. Do a LinkedIn live. Do a Telegram live. Just get out and start talking, and then, what are people responding to? If no one is responding to you, there’s the memo. You should call me immediately. Call our team and say, “I need help. No one wants to listen to me.”

It could be how you’re presenting it. So, we’ll mentor and coach you through that. You’ve got to learn what you’re doing, and how to get content. Now, once you get mor fluid at it, I would do chapter by chapter. I would never just start out and write a book. You can write the little books, the little Amazon bestsellers. I would do a bunch of those.

Now, how do you post it? What kind of content? You can do blogs. You can do reports. You can do books. You can do a YouTube channel. You can do so many things. In fact, I create one piece of content, and usually repurpose it four, six, seven, eight times. I have a podcast, in addition to our YouTube channel. But for you beginners, just start talking. Start asking questions. And, when I say talk, ask more questions in the beginning, find out what people want to know about you as an expert.

What are the major components of a marketing strategy? Who’s your customer? What do you want it to be? I have a little bit of reverse thinking in marketing. I like really wide offers to bring in a ton, a ton of people in my database, and then I’ll niche later, for those of you who are ready to work with me. So, I niche later, and I go really wide. I want all of you to get my Millionaire Maker book. I want all of you to get my Make Your Kids Millionaires book. Why? Because I have checklists that all of you need to be doing, and putting into effect in your life and leaning in.

So, to get a marketing strategy about it. Where do people hang out? What’s going to be the path of their experience? The other thing I like to put into a marketing strategy is more for your knowledge. Where have they been? So, know where they hang out and know how to have that transitional conversation, to how to help them.

How do you come up with a content marketing strategy? There are three big chunks to it. Just your knowledge and your product and your service in your industry, is really knowing it. How do I plan it? And then, how do I produce it? A lot of times, content marketing for a lot of people is just about the schedules. You have to post three times a day.

Each social channel has a different algorithm. So, you’re going to have repost a lot of stuff, and re-cut it, different ways, different conversations. That’s later, that’s how to actually do the posting and the production of it.

First, what are you going to talk about? You’ve got to talk about the most relevant things that your people want to talk about, which is ask them questions, talk to them. And then, how do you plan it? So, as you’re doing your planning, I want you to start looking at, again, in your industry, your product services. Is it more blogs? Is it reports? Is it newsletters? You need to do some planning on how you want to structure the content, and then when it’s going to be produced, and how it’s going to be produced.

If you’re a beginner, I would not do it all. I think too many of you try to do it all. You want to do emails. You want to do texts. You want to do your reports. There’s too much you want to do. So, pick the things you’re seeing have the most traction in your space, and then start studying the algorithms of the social channels for that space.

I’m going to give you a publishing schedule. How much should you publish per week? So, we do five times a week, minimum. We do one to three a day, and then we adjust as we go. Again, you’ve got to come back, and not just post, you’ve got to create engagement.

Don’t set it and forget it. You have to schedule it, and then you have to come back and engage. It’s one of the biggest mistakes I see people just post something, and then they don’t go back and engage, and engage in a way that is moving that person into your database. You want to take a follower and move them into your database. You have to have a place where you can monetize your database.

Repetition is key. Really nurturing the customer, staying in that engagement. And then, on a regular basis, I would put out some surveys or polls. What else do they want you to talk about? What is the best way to get engagement?  That’s really what’s going to have you get some cash from your online and your marketing strategies.
