How SATCoL are driving the environmental change
Salvation Army Trading Company (SATCoL) is committed to driving positive change and taking action to save our planet. Our latest initiative to reduce our carbon footprint showcases the launch of our acclaimed range of new commercial electric vehicles. We’re actively driving the business into a low-carbon future and making an impact one journey at a time.
The average range for a donation centre eVan is 90 miles and these new vehicles are designed to go the distance. With the rollout of the rapid EV charging points at our donation centre and other locations, this new programme will allow for a top up throughout the day and an overnight full charge.
SATCoL collects around 50,000 tonnes of textiles each year and thanks to the generosity of members of the public we are able to reuse and repurpose these donations. Fleet Manager, Chris Bentley shared: “It’s great to see a full electrical commercial vehicle on the road for SATCoL. This continues our EV journey and there’ll be more to come in the future.”
These vans are the next step in our efforts to cut costs, optimise our business and continue to raise vital funds for The Salvation Army. In the last 10 years alone, we have donated over £76 million to support the great work they do such as providing specialist support for survivors and potential victims of modern slavery, shelter for those experiencing homelessness and so much more.
