HOW TO SET UP YOUR VPNs

VPNs need no introduction, especially in Nigeria. For seven months, it was all Nigerians used to get on Twitter when it was banned in the country. But if you don’t know what it is, VPN is short for Virtual Private Network. Although it has been and can be used to change your location, the major solution VPN was created for was for the security of your data and your device by concealing your IP address.

So, what can VPNs do?

There are several things VPNs can do. Some of the things you should expect to see from most VPNs are;

  • Extra layer of protection on Public Wi-Fi and Hotspot.
  • Protect your device from snoopers.
  • Fast internet speed.
  • Encryption of your personal data.
  • Anonymity when browsing the web
  • Connection to the best server in your location.

Have you ever travelled to a foreign country and couldn't reach your loved ones because WhatsApp was not allowed in that country? I know you would understand what I was saying if you have been to Dubai on a vacation or to China on a business trip, or to other Gulf countries. Well, VPNs can help you stay connected always.

Stay connected to your loved ones with a Virtual Private Network today
while you close business deals in China.

There are tons of  VPNs out there. You want to be careful if and when choosing a VPN because some VPNs that claim to encrypt your data do the opposite. So, you want to use the right VPNs if at all. Few VPNs that we think are good for trial are

  • Express VPN
  • Nord VPN
  • CyberGhost VPN
  • Surfshark VPN

Having said this, I am sure you are looking to set your Private Virtual Network on your iOS device. Here are easy steps that can help you navigate that.

  • Install the app.
  • Open the app and create an account.
  • Open your iPhone setting and connect to the Virtual Private Network.
  • Under the status icon, switch on the VPN and start using it.

If you were setting up the VPN manually, the steps you need to take are a bit more. They are,

  • Go to your settings
  • Under General settings, click on VPN.
  • Then, add VPN configuration.
  • Click on “type” and select the VPN type you are using or you want to use. The various types include IPSec, IKEv2, and L2TP.
  •  Put in your username and password.
  • After this, you decide on whether you want manual and auto.
  • Press done and voila, you are in.

We have taken you through a ride and hope that this was super useful. Let us know if you have used a VPN, which you used and why.
