How to spread Christmas Cheer through your social media channels.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas decorations, Christmas music, Christmas parties and lots of people spreading Christmas cheer.

Did you know that you can spread the spirit of the season through your social media channels? Of course, you can!

I’m here to help with a few ideas to get you started:

1. Share famous Christmas movie quotes that everyone knows - Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, Elf…these are just a few of the best movies to pull famous one-liners from. Encourage your followers to “Finish this famous line…” or to share their favorite scene with you.

2. Ask people what their favorite Christmas song is and why? - You can’t go anywhere without hearing some Christmas tunes. Many of these songs get stuck in our heads so why not ask your audience for their favorites?

3. Take photos of your business or office holiday decor - showcase your Christmas spirit by snapping some photos of your “decked halls, bows of holly and all!” Ugly Christmas sweaters anyone?

4. Host a Holiday contest or giveaway - it’s the season of giving! So why not give away something fun to your followers and customers. Consider a gift card, baked goods, a t-shirt, cup of coffee or cash. Regardless its the act of generosity that matters.

5. Start a “12 Days of Christmas” countdown - find 12 things you’re thankful, 12 highlights from the past year or even 12 of your most loyal customers/followers and post about them. People like countdowns and numbers, especially when they lead into something as great as Christmas!

These are just a few of the unique ways I’ve seen some of the top businesses and brands use social media to get in on the Christmas spirit.
