How to Stay Focused with Packed Schedules
Can you believe how fast the year has flown by? Thanksgiving and Christmas approach, it’s easy to feel pulled in a million directions.
But here’s the thing: we don’t have to do it all.
Today, I want to share a little encouragement on how we can stay focused on what really matters.
Embrace the Present and Focus on What Matters
I know many of you are balancing family, career, and personal dreams, and it’s a lot.
My youngest just turned two, and let me tell you, she’s changing every day, learning to talk in sentences, and it’s amazing!
Those moments with her remind me to savor the little things.
But as you know, life doesn’t pause for us.
From career moves to holiday prep and everything in between, it’s a lot of hats to wear.
For me—and I think for a lot of us—staying focused means grounding ourselves in what matters most.
Sometimes, that means making the conscious choice to pause, whether that’s to be present with family, reconnect with friends, or simply take time to breathe.
Remember, being intentional with our time and energy means prioritizing what will have a lasting impact.
Simplify with the "50 Meter Target" Mindset
Here’s a little technique I use: the "50 meter target" approach. Instead of trying to tackle everything at once, we focus on what’s right in front of us—the immediate, achievable tasks. Here’s how it works:
1. Pick Your Top Three: Choose three priorities for the month that will bring you closer to your goals. For example, if you’re transitioning into a new career, you might focus on networking, refining your resume, and researching specific companies.
2. Take Daily Steps, No Matter How Small: Every day, do one thing that moves you toward your goal, whether that’s updating your LinkedIn profile or setting aside 20 minutes to explore job descriptions. Little steps add up!
3. Stay Consistent and Flexible: Life happens. If your day goes sideways, remember it’s okay to pivot. What matters is that you’re moving forward, one step at a time.
This mindset is about taking action without getting overwhelmed.
When we zero in on the small but meaningful steps, we can keep making progress without stressing about every detail.
Find the Tools That Work for You
To keep myself on track, I live by my calendar and a project management tool called ClickUp.
By having everything in one place, I can see what’s ahead without feeling scattered.

I also use email hacks, like snoozing messages that need attention later, so I can focus on what’s pressing without distractions.
Find the tools that work best for you—whether it’s a planner, to-do list, or app.
The goal is to stay organized and keep moving forward without losing sight of your priorities.
Here’s the truth: we don’t have to do everything perfectly, especially with the holiday season here.
Give yourself permission to prioritize and let go of the idea that you have to do it all.
Focusing on what’s important to you, taking small steps, and allowing yourself to adjust as needed is enough.
So, as we dive into November, let’s commit to keeping our focus where it matters most.
You have so much on your plate, but you’re doing an amazing job, and you’re moving forward every day.
Trust that you’re exactly where you need to be.
With Appreciation,
Wendi

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. I often feel like there’s too much to do and not enough time. How can I manage this mental chaos?
I totally get it—feeling pulled in a million directions can be exhausting. One way to tackle mental chaos is by simplifying your focus to one or two small tasks each day. Use tools like a calendar or project management app to keep everything in one place. Remember, it’s okay to let go of perfection and focus on what’s essential right now. Prioritizing in this way allows you to stay organized and avoid the overwhelm that comes from trying to do it all.
2. How do you manage work, family, and personal development without burning out?
Balancing everything starts with clear priorities and systems that support those priorities. I rely heavily on my calendar and project management tools like ClickUp, which allow me to organize tasks and focus on what matters most. I also break down big projects into manageable steps and set aside time for family and personal rest. Most importantly, I remind myself that it’s okay to say no and to focus on what matters most in the moment. Giving yourself grace and flexibility is essential for long-term balance.
3. How do you keep yourself motivated with everything on your plate?
Staying motivated comes down to purpose and perspective. For me, being intentional with my time and seeing progress in small steps helps keep my motivation high. I also give myself permission to adjust when needed—if a day or week goes differently than planned, I focus on what I can control and keep moving forward. Regularly checking in with myself and celebrating small wins reminds me that progress, not perfection, is what really counts.
