How to stop the FOMO and make more money!
Do you find your business feels like you’re on Philip Green’s Yacht some months and then the next month you’re on Weston-super-Mare beach with a blow up Flamingo from Primark?
You’re not alone and – before you even start – you’re not failing!
It’s a cycle many people get into and the problem usually is one of three things:
- You’ve allowed one client to take up more than 20% of your time.
- You’ve got so busy that you’ve stopped working on your own business
- You’re doing too many things that aren’t going to grow your business
Let’s look at number 3.
I see the same posts and ads online that you do…
- Learn how to do this.
- Get 10k months just by doing this
- Be a digital nomad by doing this one thing
- Write an eBook and be a 6 figure business owner
- Launch a podcast and never work a day again in your life
- Buy this product to really make every day in your business soooo much easier
And we think, ‘YES, that’s clearly what I am missing’ so we do it, buy it, launch it, etc.
And go in gusto…
Then…
Nothing. Nada. Nothing changes, or not for any length of time anyway, because you remember that this new thing you’re doing needs more of your time and time equals money.
Plus, if you’re spending all this time on this new thing how will you nurture new clients? Hell, when will you find the time to even promote this new thing?
You’re back to square one, in fact you might be in an even bigger pickle because you’ve lost so much time on this new shiny investment and it wasn’t what your business needed.
So, here’s how to stop yourself doing the wrong things and signing up to the next shiny object:
- Stop… easy as it sounds, stop! Stop before you input that 12 digit card number and ask yourself, 'is this really going to change anything?'
- Remind yourself of your personal business goals – forget the ones this fancy ad / post says you need to focus on
- Consider the time investment of this new thing, remembering time equals money, this is in addition to the cost of the shiny thing!
