How to take a career break (without destroying your future job prospects).

How to take a career break (without destroying your future job prospects).

Hey friend! 👋

Welcome to the Corporate Survivor podcast with me, Mei Phing! 👋

I've taken two careers breaks in 2016 and 2019 to become a caregiver to my mum who was terminally ill (r.i.p) - where I quit my banking job at Head of Governance at Standard Chartered five years ago.

Here's the top questions I had to honestly asked myself before I dived in:

Should I take a career break? And if I decide to take a career break, how do I do that in a way so I don't destroy my future career prospects?

In this special podcast episode:

I share the key considerations when deciding on whether you should take a career break and how to set yourself up for success when you're ready to return to the working world.

I also share my personal experiences with two careers breaks in 2016 and 2019 to become a caregiver to my mum who was terminally ill (r.i.p) which eventually lead to my new path as a career coach and mentor to9-5 professionals in my career program, the Corporate Survivor.

We should normalise career breaks! They add diversity to the workplace. I took several career breaks over the years as well, including caregiving and bereavement breaks Mei Phing Lim 🙏❤️
