How to throw great events (online or IRL)

How to throw great events (online or IRL)

This week on the show, I'm returning to my roots! I'm talking about organizing in-person meetups and building community In Real Life (IRL).

But don't worry! Knowing that most of us operate predominantly online, I'm actually building a bridge – a bridge that takes what works for creating exceptional in-person gatherings and using that as inspiration for online events.

My guest is Nick Gray – he's the author of The 2-Hour Cocktail Party. Nick moved to New York City with very few friends and less-than-stellar social skills. But he craved new relationships and exciting opportunities, so he started hosting non-traditional parties.

As a result, Nick has been featured in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He's even been called a host of “culturally significant parties” by New York Magazine.

In this episode, we break down his 4-part framework, appropriately named the NICK method.

  1. Nametags
  2. Icebreakers
  3. Cocktails Only
  4. Kick 'em out

It's fun and you can watch it now on YouTube:
