How To Train Your Resilience Muscle As An Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurship is not for the weak. I’ve said this several times before because it’s true! The life of an entrepreneur is filled with many unknowns, important decisions, and even disappointments. Unless you’re a “marketing genius” who launched at the right time, success takes its own sweet time to arrive. And in order to achieve that success, you need to become resilient. So, let’s dive into how to begin training your resilience muscle!
1 - Don’t be afraid of failure
Resilience is all about perseverance and pushing ahead no matter what roadblocks or setbacks you encounter. Failure and disappointment are bound to happen to everyone, especially entrepreneurs, so learn to embrace them. Realize the good that they bring; they tell you what went wrong, what needs to be improved, and how you can come back stronger. Success is definitely nice to have, but it doesn’t teach you as much as failure. Don’t let failure be the reason you give up; frame it as an opportunity for growth.
2 - Stay focused on the bigger picture
When life starts throwing stuff at you, don’t lose your focus on what’s ahead. Thinking about why you started your business in the first place, what your purpose is, and how you want to make a difference in your community and the world can help you stay grounded and keep your nose to the grindstone, ignoring all the self-doubt and imposter syndrome that may come your way.
3 - Have the right support network
Building one’s resilience muscle doesn’t come without help; create a support network that is made up of people who uplift you, believe in your vision, and provide any necessary guidance for you during tough times. Don’t be around those who only tolerate you; when you find the right community, you’ll realize that celebrating one another is where it’s at!
4 - Don’t forget to take care of yourself
No entrepreneur can push through without practicing regular self-care and setting a strong work-life balance. When we don’t take care of ourselves, stress can build up, leading to burnout, imposter syndrome, and even depression. When these things start to happen, our resilience muscle can significantly weaken. So take the time every single day to do something for YOU, and not just for your business. Step away from responsibilities, turn off notifications, and do relaxing activities that help you rest and recharge.

5 - Always celebrate your progress
Giving yourself a treat or a pat on the back when hitting small milestones doesn’t mean that you are weak; it means that you’re consistently motivating yourself and allowing yourself to keep moving towards the bigger milestones. Some people may do fine with waiting to celebrate until they hit their ultimate goal, but most people need motivation and accountability to stay on track and stay focused on their goals. Don’t discount what may seem like little progress - it’s still progress! You’re moving forward, never backward.
As you keep training overtime, your resilience muscle will become stronger - just like any other muscle! Entrepreneurship is not an easy journey, but it’s absolutely worth it! Keep your chin up, and I know you’ll find the success you are seeking.
