How to Turn a Corporate Event into an Island Adventure

How to Turn a Corporate Event into an Island Adventure

CLIENT BRIEF:

When a large South African Investment Bank reached out to us, they wanted to reward their hard-working product and marketing teams with their first offsite event.

Challenge accepted!

OUR THINKING:

We knew we had to deliver a personalized, meticulously organized two-day offsite event that would leave attendees feeling valued, motivated, and invested in. Drawing on our experience with major clients like Barclays, PwC, and Microsoft, we understood that such investments have tangible benefits: improved staff retention, productivity, and communication.

THE FINER DETAILS:

We chose Osea Island, an enchanting and exclusive private island surprisingly close to central London. Nestled on the Blackwater Estuary, this serene retreat offers four and a half miles of private beaches and coastline.

DAY 1:

9:00 AM: Guests arrived by coach directly onto the island. Our Chillisauce event manager welcomed them, handed out island maps, and guided everyone to the Captain’s House for tea, coffee, and soft drinks.

9:30 AM: The meeting commenced in the Captain’s House Library, set up theater-style with a plasma screen for presentations.

12:30 PM: After the meeting, guests enjoyed a picnic hamper lunch on the lawn outside the Captain’s House, with an indoor option in case of poor weather.

1:30 PM: Post-lunch, the event manager guided guests to the activities field for the "SHIP WRECKED" activity, which was a hit!

4:45 PM: After the prize-giving ceremony, guests headed to their accommodation, where their luggage awaited them in individual bedrooms.

5:00 PM: Free time to explore the island and freshen up before the evening festivities began.

6:30 PM: The Shack Bar opened, kicking off the beach-themed party. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous BBQ dinner around fire pits, with beach and garden games set up outside.

9:00 PM - 10:00 PM: The party moved inside The Shack, where the DJ got the crowd dancing. In case of inclement weather, the BBQ and party were planned to take place inside The Bomb Factory. Guests enjoyed overnight accommodation in single occupancy bedrooms.

DAY 2:

9:00 AM: Guests gathered for breakfast in the Pool Clubhouse, followed by options for a bike ride, fishing in the Carp Lake, or a rejuvenating morning walk. The island also offered games rooms for indoor fun.

11:00 AM: Another client meeting took place in the Power House, with a break for a buffet lunch before continuing the meeting.

3:00 PM: Departure time. Guests left Osea Island by ferry to Heybridge Basin, where a coach awaited to take them back to their office.

THE PARTY:

The BBQ and beach-themed party took place at The Shack and Shack Bar from 6:00 PM onwards on day one. Guests enjoyed bespoke cocktails, a delicious BBQ feast, and fire pit areas with seating and blankets. Garden-style games provided additional fun, and the DJ kept the party going inside The Shack from 9:00 PM.

This event was a smashing success, creating unforgettable memories and a renewed sense of motivation among the attendees.
