🚀 How to Use Vision, Journey, Culture, and Results to Level Up Your Career 🚀

In our latest Make Work Not Suck podcast, we had a fantastic question from Alex, a young professional with big dreams:

"How do I apply the Vision, Journey, Culture, and Results framework in my career and work life?"

Intrigued? You should be! Alex used the analogy of four blind men and an elephant to break it down, and trust me, it's a game-changer. 🐘👀

Want to know how this quirky story relates to your career? 🎧 Watch the podcast and discover how understanding your strengths—and your blind spots—can make work suck a whole lot less!

This is where it gets interesting.

Whether you're early in your career or a seasoned professional, understanding these four pillars can be a game-changer:

💡 Vision – What’s the big picture? Know where you want to go. If you're strong in Vision, you're the one seeing the future, but remember: it’s not just about ideas, it’s about connecting those ideas with the people around you.

🛤️ Journey – It’s all about process. How do you get from where you are to where you want to be? This is where planning, strategy, and steps matter. Small steps add up to big results.

👥 Culture – No journey happens in isolation. How do you connect with others, build relationships, and create an environment where people thrive? Strong teams and workplace culture can make or break your progress.

🏆 Results – At the end of the day, it’s about delivering. What outcomes are you driving towards? Results-driven people excel here, but they need the support of vision, culture, and journey to truly succeed long-term.

🎯 Here’s how to apply it:

  1. Self-awareness: First, understand where your strengths lie. Do you naturally lean into Vision, Culture, Journey, or Results? Identify your weak spots and work on those areas.

2. Balance: No one can be strong in all areas, and that’s okay. Recognize where you excel and partner with others who complement your blind spots.

3. Career growth: Even if you’re not in leadership yet, applying these principles will set you apart. If your company doesn’t value this approach, it might be time to look for one that does.

💡 Key takeaway: These aren’t just abstract concepts—they’re tools to help you grow, succeed, and make your work life suck a lot less.

What’s your strength? Vision? Journey? Culture? Results? Let us know in the comments!

Love this Phil Norris! Clarity and direction are crucial in this scenario because, just like the blind men, businesses can often operate with incomplete or fragmented perspectives. Each person or department may have their own version of the "truth," based on what part of the business they interact with —just like each man touches a different part of the elephant. Without strategic clarity, these individual insights may lead to conflicting interpretations and confusion.

This provides an excellent overview of the application of the Vision, Journey, Culture, and Results framework. The key challenge lies in maintaining accountability to ensure that the entire process is consistently followed.
