How Walmart Marketplace drove record sales and conversion during Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Black Friday and Cyber Monday brought holiday magic to Walmart customers and sellers alike. Walmart Marketplace had its highest sales day ever and set a single day conversion rate record during the busy shopping period of Nov. 25–Dec. 2*.

Shoppers turned their attention from Thanksgiving meals to shopping for deals, with cordless vacuums, video game consoles, dressers, luggage and jewelry being top sellers. Customers flocked to Furniture, Automotive, Beauty, Toys, Electronics and Home Management categories and drove significantly higher sales than last year.

Let’s unwrap five key reasons why sellers are succeeding on Walmart Marketplace this season:

Our eCommerce business is booming

A high-traffic platform is at the top of any seller’s holiday wish list. Powered by unique omnichannel experiences and a growing assortment, Walmart’s eCommerce business continues to scale with sustained momentum. In FY25 Q3, our U.S. eCommerce business grew 22% and Walmart U.S. Marketplace sales grew 43%, making it our fifth consecutive quarter with more than 30% sales growth.

Walmart is gaining high-income shoppers

Walmart has long been a destination for customers across income cohorts. After all, our mission to help people save money and live better is universal. Last quarter, about 75% of Walmart’s market share gains came from households making more than $100,000 per year. These gains create exciting opportunities for premium brands and categories on our Marketplace because higher-income customers are showing a higher propensity to spend on both discretionary and grocery purchases**.

We’re expanding categories and launching new ones

To help our millions of customers discover more of the items they want and love, we launched Premium Beauty and expanded our Collectibles and Pre-Owned assortments this summer. During our Black Friday and Cyber Monday events, customers scooped up pre-owned luxury items such as Rolex watches and premium refurbished items from brands including Dyson. Collectibles such as Pokemon cards and retired LEGO items were popular as well as deals on trending Premium Beauty products from T3, BabylissPRO, Paul Mitchell and Victoria's Secret, plus a broad assortment of premium fragrances. Sabrina Carpenter Sweet Tooth has emerged as the most coveted fragrance of the season on Walmart Marketplace.

Whether our customers are buying gifts for others or themselves, they are continuing to come to Walmart for items across Beauty, Toys, Hardlines and Home, all of which grew more than 20% in Q3.

Our fulfillment capabilities are growing

Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) is built to manage end-to-end fulfillment for sellers of all sizes, on peak days and all year long. Sellers asked us if they could use WFS to fulfill their orders from other eCommerce sites, so we launched our Multichannel Solutions program just in time for holiday planning.  Our resilient network leverages people and technology, including Walmart’s state-of-the-art next-generation fulfillment centers, to deliver merchandise to customers quickly and reliably—at some of the industry’s lowest rates. We also continue to enhance seller-fulfilled shipping solutions for Walmart.com orders that help reduce costs and ensure on-time deliveries (no sleigh required).

We made it easier to be part of our deals events

This year, we dialed up the thrill of the deal and invited all sellers to maximize these selling events. Our new Deals Dashboard makes it easy for sellers to enroll their items in Walmart’s popular deals events. It also gives sellers more data and insights to improve the quality of offers and make more deals available to customers. As a result, customers were able to shop major savings on more than four times as many items from Walmart sellers between our Black Friday and Cyber Monday events compared to last year***.
