Human Design for Business Growth - How Does It ACTUALLY Work?
Embarking on the journey of online visibility as a solopreneur can feel like navigating uncharted terrain. It's easy to get lost in the promises of gurus proclaiming "the ultimate formula" for success. Their polished programs often look so enticing, filled with what seems like deep, transformative content. But here's the catch – the more you delve into these courses and programs, the more you realize that the actual practical implementation is often a mirage.
So, what's the alternative? It's time to turn your focus inward. The real magic happens when you blend your unique perspective with the strategic framework of Human Design.
But how deep do you need to go to reap the benefits?
I see it. The allure of Human Design is undeniable. This dynamic system provides more than superficial insights – it digs deeply into your specific attributes, and when you know how it’s used, it can help you craft a brand voice that resonates authentically with your audience.
However, as beneficial as these insights can be, many Human Design programs falter in their execution. They dive too deeply into the system's mechanics, leaving their clients and students swimming in a sea of theoretical jargon, with little to no actionable steps that support actual business growth.
The challenge isn't in the value of Human Design itself but in how it's often taught for application in business. In fact, it is often those who teach who are also slightly questionable in terms of their business growth expertise.
Just because someone has a successful business, no matter how big, they do not know how to grow the business for others, and (in my opinion) it is not a good reason why they can teach others – unless they specifically teach what worked for them and are open about it, as well as the fact that it may not work for others. Do you see what I am saying?
They only know their OWN business and how it happened to find success – usually through a lot of trial-and-error, and often a long time (which some of them talk about and others, frankly, do not).
Many Human Design teachers get lost in the intricate details, emphasizing the need to understand every nuance of the system. While this knowledge has its place in the arena of personal development, what's often missing is the bridge to practical application.
The Human Design system has nothing to do with the actual business operations – and it never will! Simply knowing your Human Design type doesn't automatically translate to business success. Giving yourself permission to lean into your natural ways effectively does.
Because, at the end of the day, our success largely depends on how much we are holding ourselves back, for whatever reason; confusion, ignorance due to lack of experience, conditioning, the super convincing gurus... the list goes on. The longer we hold back, the longer we put up with less of what we deserve; recognition, clients, rewards, and feeling like we have meaning and purpose in life.
Understanding our Human Design unlocks so many small (and often grand and vital) permissions we give ourselves to live our lives. In business, it is about building it, and the visibility around it, in alignment with our innate personalities and gifts, which is natural and fulfilling for us.

And those permissions are what is so magnificent! So, you do not really need to study the Human Design system – you need only some top level awareness and then (here’s the most important piece) you experiment with it in your life.
It is not about the knowledge per se – it is about living it, following your inner guidance, offering outer guidance to those who invite us (based on our Type strategy), and, of course, really understanding our personality traits (our Profile lines) to uncover our unique brand voices, the angles we naturally take when we speak about anything we care about, as well as revealing where the impostor syndrome is rooted and how to overcome it.
In my own business, I compile reports that cover those interesting areas that actually have practical implementations. This is where the juicy details are presented to my clients. But, when I work with them as a mentor, we focus much more on the implementation piece of those top-level elements rather than the technicalities of their Human Design.
So, we focus on the action and how it can be taken, and then see how our design echoes in it, rather than trying to "fit" elements of our design into what we say or do.
It is not about your chart "revealing" your gifts – t is about taking what you are already good at and offering it as a business, and then seeing how the elements of your chart echo your reality so you can be more empowered when you talk about it, or often even find some specific words and phrases that truly make you feel confident when you say them. Because all they do is reinforce what you are already doing.
If you are unsure what you are doing in your business, you need to go back to the drawing board. Running a business is HARD. No question. It takes a long time to establish it to create funnels that consistently attract clients. There are no magic shortcuts. But you need to know what YOU are bringing to the table. What expertise? What experience?
It is not something your chart can tell you; it is about your own life story. The chart then helps either validate why you are so good at it, or show why you do not like doing things in a specific way.
If you want to run a business, but are not sure what you want to do, and are looking for the chart to tell you, then I believe you are doing it wrong. It is like receiving a square peg and trying to fit it into a round hole. Before creating a business, you need to practice your "thing" so that you become good at it. Then you have some chance to actually monetize it.
However, if you are indeed an expert, understanding just the top level of your Human Design can truly point you in the right direction – although then you need to "let go" of the need to cling to it. Human Design was not created for, and has no direct connection to, running a business. I know several people with the Money Line channel who barely make ends meet in their life coaching businesses. Because perhaps running a business is not actually for them, and that channel is about finding resources in a very different way.
Therefore, I strongly believe that for your business growth, going too deeply into the channels and gates is pretty.... pointless! It is a personal development area, not a business strategy. However, allowing yourself to be more YOU in your business definitely contributes to taking more aligned risks and bolder moves and creating magnetic content – as it channels your natural attraction energies. This is what will inevitably contribute to your business success, so you can thrive and feel on purpose.
