Thank you Lumoa, Refinitiv, Shawbrook Bank, UK Civil Service and Audeliss. There is humanity in hiring ...
A lot has been written about the faceless side of job applications. AI/ NLP bots scanning CVs for keywords and sending bland ‘… we regret to inform you’ responses (bots have emotions?? 🤔🤔).
I’d like to call out Lumoa, Refinitiv, Shawbrook Bank, HM Civil Service and Audeliss for their more human approach. To corrupt a famous saying, “a 30 minute Zoom call is worth more than a thousand CV words” . Interestingly, these companies have also posted job descriptions that really highlight their culture and values, they lay out selection criteria (and sometimes their order of importance) and … wait for it … they communicate and contact you when they say they will.
Here are my tips:
- Where possible, try to reach out to HR or the hiring manager directly. It’s better to send a covering email and request a chat rather than just submitting your CV
- Be yourself
- Ask for feedback
- Try to stay positive throughout this whole process
If you want help, advice or even a 30 minute Zoom call, just reach out to me.
Good luck 😊
