“I absolutely love what I do” Employee turned employer
Josh has uniquely worked with FIP Group from both perspectives, initially as a candidate looking for a job and later as a client, recounting his experience working with the business fondly. “The experience from end to end was smooth and efficient, however, what really stood out for me was the after sales experience, it was really good. FIP Group reached out three times within the first three months - the day I started, at the end of my first week and checked in again three months into the role. It was clear to me that the team prioritised personalised support, so I reached out to FIP Group again to hire a couple more like minded people.”
Josh also shared insight into his professional journey with MEQ Probe, joining the company as a field technician where his career trajectory quickly evolved, uncovering growth opportunities within the organisation.
A seamless transition
Four years ago, in 2020, Josh saw the position of a field technician and applied for it. “Within half an hour I’d received a phone call from FIP Group who thought I had a standout application. Within two hours I was having my first interview with the CEO of MEQ Probe, it was very fast,” Josh said.
Leveraging his 15-year background managing his own businesses, Josh seamlessly incorporated his operational expertise into his role at MEQ Probe. "Working in an operational role has always been my background, so it felt like second nature to me," Josh said.
From employee to leader
Josh's career took a positive turn when his experience and dedication to the role were recognised by MEQ Probe's CEO. This resulted in a promotion where Josh was overseeing all field operations in Queensland and contributed to projects nationally as well as internationally in New Zealand and the United States. “I was really eager to progress my career. It was important to me and I've been able to prove to MEQ that I was willing to go above and beyond to get our projects over the line.”

Along with his growing responsibilities, Josh saw an opportunity to grow his team. “I was optimistic when I first began recruiting, however, we didn’t have much time or success sifting through resumes,” said Josh. Josh’s positive experience with FIP Group prompted his return to the business for support in recruiting additional field technicians for MEQ Probe. “I reached back out to FIP Group for their recruitment support because of the interaction I had with the team. Their recruitment process was very thorough and they were easy to talk to,” said Josh.
Finding the right people for the job with FIP Group
Due to the nature of the roles, the recruitment process to find the right field technicians and operators required meticulous efforts. “We were picky because we wanted find the right people with technical skill sets and who were a good fit for our growing company,” said Josh. “FIP Group looked after the whole recruitment process from advertising and screening to liaising with me about potential candidates.” Within three months, FIP Group placed four people with MEQ Probe across Queensland, Victoria and New Zealand. “We have certainly found these people to be excellent additions to the team, bringing a diverse range of skill sets. Two of them are field technicians, while the other two are technical operators, training to become field technicians as well,” said Josh.
Advice for field technicians
Beyond his MEQ Probe role, Josh stressed the importance of continuous learning, as he is planning to pursue an IT-style course in the coming year to align with the company's growth, “I’ve decided to go back to university at 35 to study IT as I was encouraged by my General Manager and CEO.” His advice to aspiring field technicians was to embrace travel and seize opportunities. “Don't be afraid to grab the bull by the horns and go with it,” said Josh.
For Josh, working at MEQ Probe is more than a job, it's a passion. “It sounds cliche, but I absolutely love what I do,” said Josh. As MEQ Probe advances in research and development, Josh remains a driving force, highlighting the importance of personal and professional growth within a supportive and forward-thinking company. "The benefit of further study is to keep myself current and ensure I'm able to keep up with industry trends."
