I am Ok , You are Okay ?

The Pandemic has suddenly changed a lot for all of us. Well, this is definitely not what we expected when we were raising our toasts bringing in 2020, making New Year resolutions and planning those dream holidays or asking for a change.

At sudden , dreams were put on hold indefinitely and everybody’s Jet engine shifted to a supersonic speed of doing more ,being there , giving and receiving unprecedented level of information , more training's , more cooking, more stress, more webex meetings , meetings with zero value add and so on . While the jet took off the runway too fast and got everyone exhausted mid-way thru the journey , a few of us wanted to stop , take a break and just breathe .

Why we running and more importantly what are we running for?

Hasn’t our job still been the same with some tech upgrades, hasn’t our relationships been the same with of course more tech upgrades, wasn’t this blessing in disguise needed for a lot of us to stop and take a break from the crazy lifestyle we previously had.

While at the beginning I was part of the same race of burdening myself with a lot of stuff, but then I thought to myself maybe it’s time to redefine life while we have a chance (consider ourselves lucky).

Life is never going to be the same again, holidays may not be the same, work-life will not be the same again but why not welcome this change with a smile on our faces and enjoy the new and renewed normal.

Embracing the change is what we all need right now. A lot of times we cribbed about not having enough time to do a lot of “I also want to do this, but I don’t get the time “. Well, now is that time go all out, try all the things you wanted to do, reconnect with the people you always wanted to, take up that hobby you always wanted to pursue.

With the world gone completely online, there is nothing that is not accessible for any of us. I always hated online classes to be honest, my attention span could nosedive from 10 to 0 at jet speed, but then with the kind of creative learning platforms and interactive apps are out there in the market, online learning got interesting and engaging at community level when we all learnt the same thing together sitting in the comfort from our homes. To add to this we also got to learn a lot from each other which strengthened our relationships like never before. Definitely a lot of us may feel that a classroom session with chit chats is always better, but then what choice do we have.

Personally, the day I stopped waiting for things to get back to normal and embraced this new shift, I have started enjoying myself despite the pandemic completely derailing my plans for relocating to another country this year. Makes you think a lot about how we can welcome this change and take it in a positive spirit. The stress gave us all a lot of sleepless nights and anxiety to say the least but what’s the point. Me not sleeping well is not going to solve the problems the world is facing currently , probably we getting better sleep and being at peace will change our perspective about things and create a positive environment to pass on this energy to others and in-turn drive a “positive change ".

So, for the people reading it, hang in there, pause for a bit, rethink and redefine your life. While we all say this too shall pass, might as well enjoy it a little bit ;-)!

Nandini Shetty, You hit it where it matters. This is what is really required, which most are not even thinking about. Everyone waiting for the old good days to come back while they may not, or they may not "for long" - or when they come, we may be unfit for those days. Thank you, Nandini, for the right thoughts, presented in the right and correctly strong words.

I really like this article Nandini. Let's find things we can enjoy in the situation which we cannot change. While the constant worrying will not fix the world, changing perspective may change "our" world. :-)
