How are you? It's LB here today. So lovely to hear from you, I'm so sorry about the circumstances, but hell, welcome to the club! What a frank and wonderful note - you are already handling it all beautifully, because frankness and ownership are absolutely key not just in this situation, but in life generally.
How was the big job? Ha, Kristina wrote, "I bet LB will tell her not to go to the big job." Made me laugh. I say whatever you do next, really be sure to take the time and grace with yourself. I loved this brief part of your note: "my reputation oddly never better."
Never forget that. You have equity and you have time. To continue with my heavy-handed metaphor, there is a whole beach outside of your career sandpit, and things like this can be the greatest gift: shocking us into a broader world.
The latest from our end: we are banging out the book like that gif of the cat at the keyboard. We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the responses to ‘ATCG’ and are starting to jigsaw it all together. It’s a three-part proposition: the book, a podcast (next year) and an online destination, so in the coming months we’ll be finishing the book and seeing what stories will best live on each platform going forward.
This is a real and building community, and we’re so excited to bring all you legendary ladies together. We’re going to change the culture.
We just loved hearing from you, Mel, and we're here for you. As I've written in my faux blurb, "After reading this book, I want to get fired." 😂
