I was honoured by Publishing Studies Department, KNUST
The Department of Publishing Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has honoured four of its alumni, during a student-engagement series dubbed ‘Time with The Masters’.
The town hall-styled session held on Friday, April 8, saw alumni of the B.A Publishing Studies programme sharing their journeys in various sectors after school, to inspire the current students of the department. The students also engaged them in a series of questions and answers.
The alumni included actor and Creative Director and CEO of Leisure Legacy, Louis Lamis; Afropop singer, model, and brand influencer Sister Deborah; content creator, food influencer and social media strategist, Bibiana Gyasi; and blogger, content creator, social media influencer, Ameyaw Debrah.
“What kept me going and the reason I did not give up was the hope and confidence in the gift I have. So no matter how tough it got, I just had to look for a way out and I did,” said Louis Lamis when asked for his motivation for his numerous stage and TV productions.

Sister Deborah on her part was grateful for all the opportunities studying the programme had opened for her. “Thanks to the Department of Publishing Studies (KNUST) I was able to get a second degree, a Masters in Book & Journal Publishing from the University of the Arts London and I’m also able to design my cover arts and write my own press releases as an artiste when needed,” she added.
Ameyaw Debrah also attributed his success to opportunities that came his way through the Department of Publishing Studies. “Thanks to the award I received as Best Publishing Student from the department, I had the opportunity to do my National Service with a print magazine (a sponsor of the award I won) and that opened me up for the space I find myself today,” he recounted.
Head of Department, Dr. Nyadu-Addo in his opening speech showed a lot of pride in the achievements of the four alumni and implored the students to learn as much as possible from the guests and draw inspiration from them.
The ‘Time with The Masters’ event also saw performances from some students, including Kay Peric, Massie, Lavaboi, Beeztrap and King Steve.
