I remember as a kid watching my Mum grapple around for coins in the back of the sofa to buy a packet of fags
I thought to myself, 'I don't want to be poor when I'm grown up'.
I didn't realise it at the time, but that moment sparked a fire in my belly to have big, bold ambitious dreams.
I didn't come from a high-flying family. I wasn't encouraged to be ambitious. Not because they didn't want all that stuff for me, but because they didn't know 'how' you got that stuff.
I was taught that you work hard for your money to pay the bills. Nobody enjoyed their job, that was just life.
I didn't want that. I wanted to be filthy rich and I wanted to enjoy what I did. I tried so bloody hard to achieve financial success in my career.
But just having a dream isn't always enough. Especially if you haven't got anyone showing you the way. My folks had no idea about the Corporate World or creating wealth. I had to figure all this stuff out for myself. And boy, did it take me a long time to figure it out!
This is why I'm so passionate about helping smart, intelligent, capable, ambitious baddass women who have had the odds stacked against them - to get their first 6 figure salary job.
This is how we do it (all things that did not come naturally to me and required a heap of pushing out of my comfort zone):
1. You need a career success mission plan.
It's no good hoping and praying amazing opportunities are going to come your way, you need to make it happen. Getting your head down and being the the best performer and hoping you'll get noticed doesn't work. But if, like me, you don't have people in your life that have carved out a pathway for you, you need to figure it out for yourself or have an awesome coach to help you with it. .

2. You need to do a complete audit on all your insecurities, hang ups and baggage
It's insane the amount of baggage I carried from my childhood. Everything from thinking rich people are bad, to thinking I don't know how to talk properly to giving up too easily. I mean there is so much more and I definitely need to write another post just about this. This is the really important stuff because this is the stuff that creates a block for you achieving your goals.
3. Knowing how to sell yourself and being an advocate for yourself
If deep down you don't like yourself much or you find it super difficult to stand up and demonstrate your worth and value, nobody else is going to see it either. This isn't about faking it until you make it either, this is about radical self-love. The more self-worth you have the easier it is to naturally sell yourself, because you actually believe what you're saying.
4. Asking for what you want
It sounds so obvious when you say it out loud but if you don't ask, you don't get. The thing is, most have us have been taught (especially women from humble backgrounds like me) to put other people's happiness ahead of our own. So, we don't ask for what we want because we think we are being selfish or demanding. You need to learn how to get comfortable with doing this by re-framing your perspective.
5. Having the right mindset and peak performance tools/habits
If you want to be a leader, you need to act like one. But not just by pretending. By building a rock solid mindset and consciously committed to your personal growth and development.
That's how you get a 6 figure salary when all the odds have been stacked against you! ANYONE can achieve financial (and personal) abundance in your life, doesn't matter who you are or where you come from.
