TikTok is beginning to test mini apps within the app
Following the format of Chinese app Douyin, TikTok is testing allowing other brands to host lightweight versions of their app within the app. We are all aware of TikTok’s push for shopping this year, with the increase in TikTok Shop purchases and recent developments towards shoppable links for organic ads, however, this move would be a huge jump towards a singular shopping experience all centered around this one social platform. If you will, imagine your Christmas shopping online, and all you have to do is look to TikTok, as miniature versions of Zara, H&M, UNIQLO, can all be found right there. This development is simply in testing now, so we will be keeping a close eye on this one.

Let’s ignore the celebrities…?
This past week, creator Anita posted how funny it could be if huge celebrities stopped getting engagement within the app and got a low amount of likes. This promoted a viral trend where users decided to ‘ignore’ JoJo Siwa first, leading to her posts seeing a dramatic dip in likes and comments mainly stating ‘stick with the plan’. This interestingly affected creators like JoJo first, whereas with Alix Earl her comment section is now filled with “I was going to stick with the plan but I love Alix too much’.
