I'm going back to school
So I'm going back to school
Maybe...Here's what's going on
I see a huge gap in women's hormone health. Education, accessibility, misinformation...the list goes on
and with my IV hydration service I've had many inquiries about peptide therapy and hormones
So I want to expand my practice and prescribe hormones- HRT, Testosterone, etc
Right now I consult...I don't prescribe in my practice
And the university I teach at offers a post graduate certificate program, should take about 1 year to complete considering all the classes I've taken in the past.
Now, I applied thinking I'd start this fall. But- my application was delayed being reviewed and accepted (people not reviewing things, not submitting things in a timely manner...you know how it is...)
At first it was cool, they asked if I minded started a little later, because the semester started already...I said sure, I don't mind.
Fast forward a whole WEEK I get an email saying it's too far into the semester to start now and they only offer the program once a year so I'd have to wait a WHOLE YEAR TO START
I said no no no no noooooooo...............I immediately wrote the school back and said there is NO WAY I am waiting until next year
Few days go by I get another email
They tell me they are going to put together an academic plan for me so I can start this Spring. They just need to get it approved. Am I ok with this...uhhhhhhhh YES I AM!!!!
So I'm waiting to hear back.

1st lesson- never take NO for an answer. ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT!
2nd lesson- Now I never thought in a million years I'd GO BACK to school after getting my doctorate.
But I'm doing it as an investment into my business- to grow my business.
NOT because I feel like I NEED validation or another certificate, or more letters, or to go on LinkedIN do some bullshit post about how I earned this that and the other...all the while it's for nothing because I don't DO anything with it, it doesn't make me more money, it doesn't really mean anything, or make me a better person.
I see SO MANY WOMEN, especially women of color- going back to school because they feel like they have to PROVE something. They NEED the letters after their name. It makes them feel like SOMEBODY, like they MADE it.
And in doing some research I learned that when it comes to graduate degrees among women of color- Asians lead the way in the US, followed by Black women, Hispanic, then Native American.
And sadly- all these graduate degrees are not earning us ANY MORE MONEY!! Black and Hispanic women hold MORE graduate degrees than their male counterparts- but we still don't earn as much.
Like WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH OUR DEGREES? our YEARS of SACRIFICE??
Putting it in a frame and hanging it up on the wall? Making people call us Dr whatever?? Really????????
And real talk- Black and Hispanic women with advanced degrees are also the most unhealthy segments of the population.
They are also having babies and trying to conceive later in their life BECAUSE they have pursued their education and career. (But that's another post for another day)
So there's a whole lot of help needed for these women...and that's exactly WHY I'm going back to school
I'll keep you all posted on what happens next!!!
