Imagine being given a job at 73 years
Queen Elizabeth II is no more after living for 96 years and being the Queen for 70 years. Now by law Prince Charles is the next in the line of succession. To change this would require an Act of Parliament. This is the joy of a Monarchy - you get the Monarch that you get. Charles’s only qualification to become the next Monarch is that he happens to be the eldest son of the current Monarch. People like Prince William, and I understand other countries’ desire to see a young man full of intelligence and confidence sitting on the British throne. Many don’t want kings and queens to be in their 70s, 80s or 90s, though affection for Queen Elizabeth remained pretty high.
The fact is Prince Charles wants to be the next king, even though he is 73. Many would not want to assume such a weary assignment, but Charles has waited his whole adult life to become a king. He wants to be a king, and so he will. Some people thought Prince Charles would decide he was too old to take on such a big role, and they think William would have the strength and resilience needed to face Harry and his wife’s unending war on the royal family and monarchy along with the bad optics of Prince Andrew. Long Live the King Charles!
Prince Charles is next in line, however, and he will not abdicate in favor of his younger son. I also understand some people are concerned that Charles is being investigated for a charity scandal. Others worry he isn’t tough with Harry. Some claim Charles doesn’t possess the confidence needed for the role. But Charles will be the next king. He might be 73 before his is made a king, but it will happen. To Charles it would be shameful not to reign. For William it grants him and the Duchess of Cambridge time to learn more about being a king and queen, and it gives them more time to raise their family.

I do believe Prince Charles will ask Prince William for his opinions, and William will be doing more and more work as his father grows older. Catherine will be busy, also. If Charles creates a slimmed-down monarchy, then any working royals will be working a lot. No matter what, Charles will become the monarch. He will fulfill his destiny. I personally would find “skipping” a generation in succession to be wholly unacceptable, and would possibly mark the beginning of the end to the British Monarchy.
Charles has in my opinion been treated rather unfairly by world media organisations, in fact he is hard working, dedicated and passionate about his duties as Prince of Wales and as future Monarch. Similarly Camilla, has been depicted as the Marriage wrecker. Hell bent on undermining Diana. The truth is Charles and Camilla have always been in love, Charles' Marriage to Diana was state engineered, and at best only ever reached a level of mutual respect for each other. Then as Now, Prince Charles “did his duty” he married the “politically suitable candidate” Such things were successful in times past, before international media coverage was almost instant, times when a comment in the NY Times would be considered irrelevant by British Press.
Added to this Princess Diana, is known to have deliberately fought against the established protocols. Determined to install herself as a significant alternative to our current Queen. Sadly her regular courting of media exposure led to her untimely death, however that death was almost certainly indirectly caused by the paparazzi following her every move. A point further indicated by the numbers of pictures taken whilst she lay dying rather than photographers actually attempting to help her. In my opinion Charles will make a good king, actually a quite progressive King, and I believe he will influence the future of the Monarchy in a most progressive and positive way. Long Live the King Charles.

2yThe queen was active till 96. In other words, assuming that he has a long life, he can be active for the next 20-25 years. He appears to have a good physique. I guess, he was in Royal Navy. He is used to regular exercise and proper diet control. Let us wish him a long life in serving his country.
