Will India Make a Denting move – to fix the Flaws in the System of WHO Functionality?

China & Its Accomplices are constantly breaking the rules – when it comes to Covid 19. Which Accomplices you ask? – WHO of course.

With whatever that has happened in the past 50 plus days – is it not clear enough, that WHO has been parenting China’s Lies, since the beginning, of the known Covid 19 Outbreak.

Made up of 194 Member countries, and the Institutional challenges which these countries are now facing, due to the Covid 19 outbreak, the WHO has a much larger & integral responsibility to fulfil, at the onset. But Alas, WHO has quite not lived up to the expectations. Many countries, along with the USA, Australia & others – have shared their discord, in the manner in which, WHO has handled the whole situation of Covid 19 outbreak, right from the time in declaring it as a Pandemic, to protecting China at multiple locations & instances of the Outbreak.

Someone will have to Bell the Cat. And could that someone be India? There is a strong possibility.

Starting 22nd of May 2020 – India is going to take up Leadership role at WHO. India’s Nomination is going to be appointed as the Chair Person of WHO’s Executive Board.

The Executive Board is a WHO wing, which is responsible for executing decisions & implementing policies of the Health Assembly. This decision was unanimously agreed upon, by the WHO’s South East Asia Group last year, and the timing of it could not have been more apt. Call it Luck, or Karma. While India is taking over this position from Japan, who held the term for 1 year, India is expected to hold the term for at least 3 years.

So the not so loved currently, Director General of WHO, MR Tedros, will have to get the Chairperson from India, On Board, for all important decisions.

So below are the 4 Things – which, India can do – to help correct the Flawed system of this health body –

1.      Push for Accountability of China for Covid 19 Outbreak – and Get long term concrete results for stoppage of such further outbreaks in the future. The downplay of China about the Virus & the blatant lies, are known to everyone around the world now. How can Countries around the world, allow China to keep producing SARS, Swine Flu, Zica , now Covid 19 & many more such Viruses from its Wet markets, and see the World succumb to its black deeds, while the country itself, flourishes to producing inferior quality of testing kits, and other allied products, and sell to the world, fill its pockets, and also, very silently, make an entry into the devalued stocks and Large Corporations of these suffering countries – while the world just looks on.

2.      Demand Transparency from China on the outbreak - Why is it not ready to share facts with countries, who are all accounting for Billions of dollars’ worth of Business with China, every year ? A Country gets Millions & Billions worth of business from other Countries, but when it comes to sharing a common platform, such as a great Pandemic like Covid 19 – you close entries for other Nations, you wash out your wet markets for any evidence, you do not share facts about the Virus originating from a Lab in Wuhan, you blatantly blame the USA military for bringing the Importing the Virus from USA. If this is not backstabbing, what is?, and to top it all up – you keep ensuring that people who speak out in your own country about your mis-deeds – keep disappearing, one after the other.

3.      India must discuss, and ensure, that WHO cannot be bought - Financial Independence of such an important body is of prima facie importance. Does money really talk at WHO ?. While current instances do throw some light on it, India must ensure this is Elephant is addressed & dealt with. While the contribution of the membership fee is extremely low, by WHO member countries, it is clear that the functioning of this body is financed by Voluntary contributions. Is it not time enough to change the model ?, so that the so called “Voluntary Contributing Countries” (and no prizes for guessing this one right, that China could have been a major contributor), do not emphasise & change the course of Global interests, to support a few countries, now, and in future, whoever they may be.

4.      Acknowledge the Existance of Taiwan - Taiwan needs to be included in WHO. India must push for it. While some parts of India, are shown as Chinese Territory in WHO map, when it comes to Taiwan – WHO adheres to the “One China Principle”. The WHO does not even acknowledge its existence. The Taiwan Observer status, is something, India must push for. And, we must not forget, that Taiwan’s response on Covid 19 has been the best, and hence- it must be allowed to share its expertise in WHO, and at a larger world forum.

Some very important Questions which India can Ask –

A.     Why did WHO Declare Covid 19 Outbreak, as a Pandemic, only after it had reached 85 Countries? What was it doing all the while, other than protecting & parenting China?

B.     Dr Tedros – You sent a WHO Delegation to China to check on covid 19. What did the Delegation Achieve? Why is it not even getting discussed?

C.     Whys is the Place of Origin of Covid 19, still under debate? Why is there not substantial evidentiary report from WHO to proclaim the same?

While China tells the world, that it is ready for an Independent Inquiry into the Covid 19 Outbreak, it is not at all surprising to note, that China wants the same to be conducted in close co-operation with WHO. So you commit a crime, and then you yourself call for an inquiry, under your own supervision, or under a body, whom you control fully well. Can it get funnier?. The Doctors in China have been re-educated in Covid 19 Case. Whistle Blowers have been silenced. And will China allow transparent agencies to visit its laboratories & wet markets in Wuhan & conduct an in-depth and transparent analysis? Your guess is as good as mine.

Let India not waste time here. Let our representative at WHO have the Guts to live up to the need of the hour, the need of the 194 Nation Countries, the need to the World, the need of the crippled 7.3 Billion world citizens. Let India not be politically correct, like the WHO, so that it may mend the Flawed body.

The World looks up to India. Let us Hope & Wish, that India shall Deliver.
