Meet 4 Sustainability Change-Makers

Meet Brands Who Are Making Circular Packaging Innovations a Reality

"Why isn't this everywhere already?"

This question is always asked when innovative, sustainable packaging solutions are launched. We've found that the mainstream adoption of material innovations - like other new technologies - depends mainly on innovators and early adopters eager to take the risks inherent to using any new materials.

Thankfully, EcoEnclose works closely with thousands of cutting-edge brands eager to adopt innovative solutions.

Because of you - our incredible brand community - we can conduct research to identify the most promising material innovations and invest in the product development needed to bring these solutions to life.

In this EcoEnterprise Edition, we spotlight four sustainability change-makers and the circular packaging innovations they are bringing to life.

Read on to learn how these brands catalyzed new materials, making them available to most of the market, and how your brand can get involved.

Contact us to join the club of early-adopting brands that bring new materials and solutions to market. Our product development team will collaborate with your brand through each step in the process.

Packaging Innovations & Their Early Adopters

Sway Seaweed Film Windows: Le Club Swimwear

Miami-based swimwear brand Le Club is committed to lowering its plastic footprint in a pledge to support ocean health.

Le Club became the first-ever swimwear brand to use seaweed packaging in a unique application: creating a 100% recycled kraft paperboard box with a Sway seaweed film window. Their initial run of boxes has already generated interest from retailers and brands of all sizes.

Algae Ink™: Bedrock Sandals

In 2017, Bedrock Sandals became the first company in the world to print all of their boxes with black Algae Ink™.

At the time, Algae Ink™ was still a new technology that most brands were reluctant to try. However, Bedrock’s willingness to dive into this untested ink was a key reason EcoEnclose and Living Ink were able to iterate on and improve the ink formulation.

Paper Standup Pouches: Cairn Coffee Roasters

Cairn Coffee Roasters became the first domestic coffee brand to use fully-customized curbside recyclable paper pouches.

Working together to bring this packaging to life has helped us learn more about the design, packaging functionality, and production processes required for this innovative, plastic-free pouch. Cairn has been a patient, engaged, and truly committed innovation partner at every stage.

ReEnclose Reusable Mailers: Armoire

Clothing rental company Armoire collaborated with our team to create a more sustainable and elevated shipping solution for its members: a 100% recycled rPET reusable mailer.

Armoire began piloting in the summer of 2023, bringing us feedback and data at every step. This led to learnings about design and functional components, how small carriers handle these bags, and how to make the label-cleaning process more seamless.
