How Breeding for Fertility Can Go a Long Way

Do you want to improve the fertility performance of your cows and boost your profits? Is it possible to breed cows with greater yield and better reproduction performance? Continue reading to learn more.

As your cows' production levels grow, you will learn that fertility needs extra attention from you. Poor herd fertility affects profits and keeps cows empty or dry for longer. This means higher costs and, in the worst cases, more involuntary culling.

Using a breeding sire with a daughter fertility breeding value of 120 can reduce the number of days from 1st to last insemination by 6-8 days and improve the conception rate by 3-4%.

By breeding for improved daughter fertility, you can achieve great results and reduce costs no matter your herd's production system or management level.

We're Expanding to the USA

After a long distribution history in the United States and a careful strategic evaluation and planning, last week, we announced the creation of a daughter company in the U.S. - VikingGenetics USA.

Through our new U.S. subsidiary, we will directly and closely provide an efficient, top-quality service to American farmers. Genetics from our three Nordic breeds - VikingHolstein, VikingJersey and VikingRed - will be available, as well as our two crossbreeding concepts: ProCROSS and VikingGoldenCross.

To lead our new USA team and offer strategic knowledge about American dairy farming, Barry Midtling has joined our team as Country Manager for the U.S. Thanks to his over 30 years of experience in cattle and goat farming, Barry has a deep connection with dairy farming in America.

Stay tuned for more updates about VikingGenetics USA, bull and product availability, regional customer support, and job opportunities.

Danish Food Sector Collaborates in Climate White Paper

Collaboration between all parts of the food sector is essential to building more resilient and progressive food systems. Farmers, food companies and scientists all have a role to play towards creating more future-friendly production from farm to fork.

A new Climate White Paper, published by Food Nation Denmark , showcases a variety of innovations across Danish agriculture and food sectors that are leading the way in sustainability.

We are honoured to collaborate in this through a case study of our cattle feed efficiency innovations – the Saved Feed Index and Cattle Feed Intake System (CFIT).

Launched last week in connection with #ClimateWeekNY and the U.N. General Assembly #UNGA78, the white paper promotes innovations that balance sustainability with the increasing need for food production. His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, also took part in the launch of the white paper as patron of Food Nation.
