An Inquisitive Mind’s Innovations and Unparalleled Potential
Dr. Sudhir was massively fond of engineering, creation, invention, and innovation since an early stage of his life. Innumerable support from his parents and mentors prompted him to pursue an innovator’s life.
“A human walks his own chosen path, although destiny & fate intricately play their hand, assigning a unique path to a select few. Your attitude decides your future and, in turn, the present.” Notes Dr. Sudhir Waghmare, a Pune-based innovator who, through all thick and thin, has forged his way forward as a notable honorary member of the medical, technical and engineering society. Dr. Sudhir was massively fond of engineering, creation, invention, and innovation from an early stage of his life. Innumerable support from his parents and mentors prompted him to pursue an innovator’s life. His interests in Neonatal equipment lay in a very niche sector and seemed quite unknown back in 1990. Researching, analyzing, and in retrospect, ameliorating the medical field in ventilation was his passion. Therefore, his belief that “great ideas give birth to an innovation, not necessarily higher educational degrees” was proven when, while acquiring a B.com degree, he successfully, while being solely self-taught, built an electric heating pad in 1983 and other innovations with improvisations.
Then dawned in 1985, and Dr. Waghmare, with no formal medical education, nor a degree in engineering, started researching Baby Incubators & allied Neonatal Equipment. With extensive research through the ’90s, he finally came up with Bubble CPAP, a non-invasive ventilation device for newborn babies with infant respiratory distress syndrome (IRDS). Dr. Sudhir, with exceptional brilliance, focus, and mind-clarity, went on a roll and invented more such ventilators; a pediatric and neo-natal one in 2004, and with cutting-edge technology, a more advanced high-frequency oscillating ventilator for babies in 2006.
For decades, India has been used to importing out-of-budget ventilators (each costing up to 14 lakhs in rupees), but with Dr. Waghmare’s strong belief in Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, he’s been able to reduce the costs by 70%, making it quite affordable for all hospitals, no matter private or government funded. There are numerous features in all his ventilation systems that have saved the lives of countless patients in our 21st century. With several medical certificates assigned to his devices (IEC, European CE, CDSCO etc.), his devices are naturally revered and praised by scientists, doctors and engineers alike all around the world. A man from humble roots, one of his beliefs that let him bound leaps and miles, is how a person’s background doesn’t define their future, but the lack of a plethora of courage, honesty, and integrity does. His organization, Shreeyash Electro Medicals, is not only user-friendly but deeply cares about the environment and the harmful effects of a ginormous carbon footprint that a company can leave being an ingrate and uncaring. Shreeyash is as eco-friendly as anything out there can be and aspires to be more so in the near future. A quality-controlled environment with high standards maintained makes Shreeyash function to its optimum level; a cutting-edge research & production facility in Pune (ISO certified) combined with experienced personnel makes Shreeyash a perfect formula for success.
Another very well thought out and highly niche yet a much-needed product that Shreeyash makes is “Kimie”, a fully automatic and portable human milk pasteurizer. Having a world patent, it’s a one-of-a-kind product that has helped innumerable mothers out there and has a high demand in hospitals and maternity wards. Moreover, “Kimie” has had multiple research papers in various medical journals published throughout India, Sri Lanka, France & the USA since its development; this is no small feat as countless medical professionals and doctors struggle to publish their research papers about their innovations in such prestigious medical journals. Kimie is being used by two very well renowned and esteemed American hospitals & universities namely, Centinela Hospital LA & UCLA School of Medicine, LA this is another astounding feat, as the medical field in India imports machines and equipment from the USA, but Shreeyash under the guidance of Dr. Sudhir has achieved the exact opposite and exported made in India “Kimie”. Dr. Sudhir’s immense hard work and herculean labours throughout the decades were well awarded by Camdon University of Delaware, USA, when in 2010, he got a doctorate for New Born Life Saving Devices. He adores being a mentor to budding entrepreneurs. With more advances in neo-natal care and childcare, he has directed more focus on providing medical aid for children.

Then came the ill-fated year of 2020, when the entire world suffered from a global pandemic, in the deathly and then unknown COVID-19. Attacking the respiratory system, it was as if the grim reaper himself had come dance a deathly shadow on our world and India; with a massively rising surge in cases, the EU and America had capitalized on their ventilators and put a strict ban on any & all exports of ventilation technology. Thus, a colossal shortage was stinging India like an unwanted thorn in a worn-out foot. Dr. Waghmare rose up for the challenge and grappled with the best ventilator award by Marico in 2020, and in June of the same year, formulated and presented his newly developed ventilating solution in the #Innovate2BeatCOVID grand challenge that was initiated by the aforementioned Marico foundation.
An open challenge, it prompted all researchers out there to help immortalize the atmanirbhar Bharat movement, especially in the medical field. This, with various other deeds, has made him stand out in the Forbes awards and the magazine itself published an interview with him. A one-of-a-kind, the never-before-seen ventilator was made, which worked dually for both children/infants and adults alike. Very keen observation and evaluation judged it to be a heavy-weight ventilator on par with the best of the best out there. Marico foundation proceeded in all good graces to approve a grant to increase production of the newly designed and technically sound ventilators in India. Dr. Sudhir Waghmare has risen to the occasion and done exceptional work in the field of medicine, gaining countless blessings on his way and heading a new generation of researchers and developers. Some names in our country’s history remain overshadowed by more trending events, thus never coming to see the light of the day.
