My Journey Through Learning, Inspiration, and Connection in Dance Medicine
Attending the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS) conference was a transformative experience for me — one that left me feeling inspired, educated, and eager to integrate everything I learned into my practice.
Here are some of the moments and insights I loved:
Shared Passion:
Being surrounded by dance professionals, researchers, and therapists all focused on dancer health and longevity was incredibly motivating.
Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation:
Sessions on the latest techniques in dance injury prevention and recovery were enlightening. I left with new methods I can’t wait to use with my clients.
Networking with Experts:
Meeting professionals whose work I’ve followed for years was a game-changer. Conversations on hypermobility, mental health, and recovery gave me fresh perspectives.
Mental Health Focus:
One session highlighted the importance of mental well-being for dancers, especially in managing performance anxiety and burnout. This will influence my holistic approach to clients.
Challenging Beliefs:
The conference encouraged us to rethink traditional ideas like “no pain, no gain.” I walked away ready to prioritize sustainable practices for dancer health.
Looking Forward:
I'm excited to implement these insights, from targeted exercises to refined pain management strategies, and support dancers to perform at their best.
