This week, Carlsberg’s group CEO, Jacob Aarup-Andersen, was in Belgium to announce a refresh of the group’s abbey beer, Grimbergen. Global Drinks Intel spoke to him shortly after the official event to hear about the brand owner’s plans for ‘1128 by Grimbergen’ and the beer’s position at the premium end of its portfolio.

The soju and beer staples of Korean barbecue now face competition – whiskey/whisky highballs are gaining prominence as consumers’ tastes evolve.

As consumers increasingly seek out better-for-you products made from local ingredients, spirits brand owners are adapting the way they make and flavour their liquids.

Earlier this month, Hunter Laing & Co’s Ardnahoe Distilling Co division unveiled the first expression from its newly-built scotch whisky distillery on the western island of Islay. Global Drinks Intel got the inside track from Ardnahoe director, and member of Hunter Laing’s founding family, Scott Laing.
