Introducing... 10 ticket sales up-and-comers I’m keeping my eye on - Quisha Walker
During the pandemic, TeamWork Online hosted two annual Major League Sports Ticket Sales Virtual Career Fairs. Many talented individuals were hired. These are stories of ten of the finalists whom I’m keeping my eye on.
Quisha Walker: “I can do it.”
Even though Quisha Walker could talk to just about anyone, talk her way into many things and talk her way out of tricky situations, she never thought she’d be good in sales.
“I psyched myself out of the job. I listened to the nay-sayers. ‘It's this, it's that.’ Even as I hit the submit button to be invited to the Major League Sports Ticket Sales Virtual Career Fair, even when I hit the submit button after that event for the inside sales position with the Dodgers, even then I had my doubts. What if I fail?”
Quisha is a high school athlete who turned media studies major at Bennett College. She followed this with a master's in Sports Management from Liberty University, giving her a few more years to think about what she really wanted to do. “Sports for me is an outlet from my own reality and a staple in my life,” Quisha shared with me.
The pandemic cut short many internships and Quisha was struggling to knit together one guest services or event coordinator role. She knew she could talk to people; she just didn’t know whether she could sell. Then came the email inviting her to the TeamWork Online Major League Sports Ticket Sales Virtual Career Fair.
“The Virtual Career Fair really taught me a lot about sales. I really liked meeting and talking with John Ferguson, who was a VP of HR for Monumental Sports before going to NASCAR. And Philicia Douglas also gave me some confidence that in ticket sales one can move from one team to another. They both encouraged me to bet on myself.

“So, when I saw the Dodgers post up an inside sales position at least I knew what it was. I was determined to get that position … and I succeeded.
“Once I got into the Dodgers and was trained on how selling is just having a conversation and asking questions, it became a lot better. Two months in you still don’t know if you can do it. But then you get that first sale! $7,000. Wow! And I was hooked. My biggest sale thus far is $40,000!
Quisha feels working for the Dodgers has been spectacular. It’s world-class entertainment in the city of Los Angeles. It's the place to be for her. It taught her to push harder and dream bigger.
“I really enjoy working in sales. It has shown me I can do anything that I set my mind to. Now I’m looking forward to the next step in new business, groups or membership services.
"I’ve got this now! I can do it!”
