Introducing Catena Clearing: The Universal Data Connector for Supply Chains.

The supply chain impacts everything about the goods we purchase, our standard of living, and our national resilience. In the last decade alone: port and canal closures, geopolitical events, and a global pandemic dramatically and instantaneously changed prices and flows of goods. Value chain dependencies on chips can shape global alliances and the future of AI. And companies vowing to reduce carbon emissions must look upstream at their suppliers’ footprints.

To smartly manage all of these moving pieces, companies are building ever more-complex supply chains, and leaning on more and more applications to ensure supply chain resilience, optimization, and visibility. These applications run on data, aiming to understand where every good is at every moment and upstream dependencies.

Catena Clearing was founded with a bold vision: to create the Universal Data Connector for Supply Chains.

Data about a single company’s supply chain is siloed across thousands of different vendors: upstream suppliers, technology vendors, logistics companies, and BI tools. In order for these tools to enable effective supply chain management, data needs to flow seamlessly across these siloes. However, there is no data standard, so integrations across data sets are rare.

As a result, the supply chain industry is still an industry that relies on emails, spreadsheets, and even handwritten paperwork to power trillions of dollars of commerce. This fragmentation of data fundamentally holds back the ability for technology to improve visibility, increase resilience, or manage supply chain disruptions.

Creating meaningful connections between software solutions is essential for creating cost-optimized resilience in modern supply chains and meeting the goals of forward-thinking businesses. Although supply chains have moved increasingly to planning platforms, execution and fulfillment remain fragmented.

Our vision is to build data interoperability across hundreds of thousands of vendors within the supply chain. By doing so, we can unleash the power of the supply chain technology ecosystem to build valuable applications for the industry, supporting improved demand planning, enhanced asset monitoring, and increased resilience for the entire industry.

Why now? An Explosion of Data, and an Explosion of Applications.

In the last decade alone, thousands of companies have been created focused on using data to improve some aspect of the supply chain. We think that this fragmentation will only continue to accelerate, as international trade flows grow more complex, regulations expand, and AI solutions emerge. Each of these applications is bottlenecked by access to the right data sets. At the same time, the amount of data available has exploded as more and more information about the supply chain has been digitized. We believe that this is the right moment for the industry to have a middleware layer that unlocks the power of data across these applications.

Building the Solution

Catena Clearing was incubated in Fall 2023 by Shaper Capital and incorporated in Jan 2024. The company is headquartered in New York City and is co-founded by Travis May, Jeremy Baksht, and Mike Goynes. Drawing on our extensive experiences in supply chain, data, and middleware, we are committed to enhancing the transparency, efficiency, and resilience of supply chains.

Our initial focus is building deep, repeatable integrations with critical “destination” nodes on behalf of applications and vendors, including TMS, OMS, WMS, ERP, and BI systems.

Our platform is designed to build repeatable, secure integrations with every major application, that can handle increasing volumes and complexities without compromising performance. This scalability is essential for supporting the long-term growth of our clients and expanding our own market reach. We are excited about the future and are committed to transforming supply chain management for the better. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to innovate and expand our impact in the industry.
