Introducing Chobani Pantry

Introducing Chobani Pantry

Chobani’s journey started in a place where people had lost nearly everything. But when I first stepped foot in that old factory, one thing became immediately clear to me: the human spirit was never lost.

I saw then exactly what I see now: everyday heroes who if given the chance would rise to beat the odds, to meet any challenge. To show the world what they’re made of.

Right now our families, friends & neighbors are facing some of their most difficult days. But thanks to so many heroes — like our nurses & doctors, grocery store clerks, delivery people, plant workers & farmers — they don’t have to face this pandemic alone.

The women & men at our plants in Central New York and Idaho’s Magic Valley are stepping up in a big way, working around the clock to make sure our food is available to families across the country. And our retail teams, working shoulder to shoulder with our grocery partners, are making sure stores are safely restocked & ready for you.

These front line workers inspire all of us to look inside ourselves and ask: “What more can I do to help?”

As governments around the world struggle to quickly respond, I’ve been so proud to watch the business community step up and take action. This is what we mean when we talk about the anti-CEO playbook & business as a force for good.

While we’re supporting the immediate needs of our families & communities facing this crisis — partnering with local & state government, nonprofits, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, shelters and beyond — we’ve also taken a hard look at what will be needed in the weeks & months well after this virus does its worst.

We know that Covid-19 hasn’t just attacked the health & wellness of our most vulnerable. It’s also hit our livelihoods, knocking out jobs & crushing small businesses. And according to medical experts, it’s just getting started.

Since day one, we’ve had a special relationship with local food banks because we share the same mission of providing better food to families & communities. Even in good times many food banks struggle to raise money, keep their shelves full, and overcome the stigma of using these important services. This is especially true in rural communities, where this pandemic is just getting started.

We believe food banks should be celebrated & supported by everyone in the community. A place where families are nurtured and hope gathers.

That’s why today we’re launching Chobani Pantry — a new way to help our heroes at local food banks who will be providing critical support to families in the weeks & months ahead.

To kickstart this effort, we’re sending a truck-a-day to food banks who desperately need supplies across the U.S. This commitment builds on the million cups of yogurt we’ve donated to our communities over the past few weeks.

We’re also turning our Chobani Cafe in New York City into a temporary food pantry, providing additional resources to a community we call home and one of the places this virus has hit the hardest.

Finally, we’re donating the power of Chobani’s digital brand — our online advertising, website, social media, and beyond — to our friends at Feeding America. Together we can help raise money, collect food, and truly expand access to our nation’s food banks as a resource for every American in need.

This is just the beginning. The team is already brainstorming ways to build on the impact we hope to make with Chobani Pantry. We’d love to hear your ideas!

The path ahead won’t be easy, but we’ll get through it the only way we know how: together.
