Introducing: LinkedIn Stories in the UK
Staying connected has never been more important. More than ever before, we’re turning to technology to celebrate achievements and projects, discuss news with our colleagues or share how we plan to relax at the end of the day. We’re actively seeking conversations to help make sense of the developments shaping the business world and the way we work.
Starting today, all aspects of the world of work can be shared on LinkedIn in a new format: LinkedIn Stories.
With LinkedIn Stories, members in the UK will have the opportunity to share their professional experiences and keep in touch with their community in a more visual way – whether that’s offering a glimpse of your work-from-home setup or sharing a short video about something happening in your industry. Influencers will be able to pass on their learnings and LinkedIn Top Voices will have a new way to engage with their audiences.
Stories can also help shed light on what’s happening now in the UK and the world. Members working in health care or other front-line professions can share their experiences or best practices, while trusted sources can relay news and reliable information about pandemic developments.
This new feature reinforces our commitment to all types of professional conversations: more than 2 million posts, videos and articles go through LinkedIn’s feed every day, generating tens of millions of shares and likes. I’m excited to see the UK’s 29M+ community use Stories to express themselves in new ways.
Your LinkedIn News team will also use this tool, giving members another door to the Daily Rundown to receive updates on the latest developments in work, business and the economy. We’ll also share updates throughout the day with news, insights and career tips curated by the UK team and more than 75 editors around the world.
To my journalist colleagues and fellow content creators who are facing the challenges of remote work: Technology can bring us together in a moment when we are physically apart, and provide a source of much-needed reliable information. I invite you to try LinkedIn Stories as a new way to provide your audience with updates, whether your beat is health, entrepreneurship or the economy.
It’s possible to highlight parts of a journalistic piece in either video or text, showcase “behind the scenes” of an interview, share curiosities found during coverage or reveal a new trend that will impact business. The quality content created by journalists is essential for LinkedIn members to work better and stay well informed.
So, make the most of Stories by sharing professional moments and experiences!
Getting Started
We will continue this conversation through our Stories at the top of the feed (look for the LinkedIn News UK logo!) and look forward to viewing yours. Here’s how to get started:
- Open your app and authorise access to the camera and microphone.
- Touch the circle with your photo in the upper left corner to open the camera.
- Upload a video (up to 20 seconds) or still image.
- Record a video or take a photo directly through the app.
- Add a sticker, mention and/or text.
- Your LinkedIn Story will be available for 24 hours.
- To add a story, access your already-published Story and tap the plus sign (+) in the bottom right corner.
(TIP: Track views of your Story at the bottom of the screen and see who viewed it.)
I look forward to seeing what you create!
