Issue #17: We are all connected.

Issue #17: We are all connected.

If it feels like things have gotten worse, they have.

But if you've been through a national or international crisis before, you know that those crises have a knack for bringing out the best in people. But one thing I'm seeing now that's different is this COVID-19 crisis also bringing out the best in business.

Over the last few weeks, you have been contributing to the #gooddecisions sheet I started to keep track of businesses who are making the right decisions for their stakeholders, and society at large.

If you need a sign that people are stepping up, it's right there. Check back every day, and add more #gooddecisions as they are made, whether it's your company making them or not. This is a time for emulation, not competition. Make better decisions so others will do the same.

As more countries have turned their focus inward, we are being jolted awake by an important message -- we are all in this together. It will take working together to overcome this -- despite what populist leaders say.

What's Good:

UK under the influence. The UK has enlisted some of its leading influencers to help halt the spread of COVID-19 misinformation.

Activism & art under fire. As the world seems to be going on pause, the work of artists and activists mustn't. Take a moment to check out and support Soze's Artist + Activist Relief Fund.

Seenit? Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian personally took out billboards in Times Square to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

We're connected to the climate, too. The global pandemic has important implications on the fight for climate action. As the world plans for recovery, we run the risk of incentivizing the biggest culprits of climate change to go back to their old behaviors.

ENOUGH. I know. We need to find ways to constantly not be talking, thinking, or strategizing for COVID-19. Many of you are at home with your families and while it's nice to have more time together, it's a dynamic we're not used to. Here's how people are coping with it.

Stay safe. Stay calm. I know neither seems quite easy these days, but these tips from NAMI will help you stay mentally healthy.

And that's a wrap. A new edition of Kindred's Good for Business drops every Monday (usually). If you enjoy this, please share it with your colleagues and friends. It's easy and fun to do!

Don't miss your chance to attend or sponsor Kindred 2020 (San Diego Convention Center, September 14-17, 2020) — THE event for sustainable, purpose-led business transformation. Every ticket purchase gives you an option to give a portion of the price to the charity of your choice.
