It's about later, not about how they fought to win!
As a teenager, of a World War II veteran I became damn irritated/angry with my Mom and Dad. That’s when I figured out, many of my teenage friends did not have to do, the things my brothers and I had to do! Things like make your own bed, do the dishes, pull the weeds in our yard, front and back, we had a damn big back yard. These are all simple things we were required to do on a daily basis.
Looking back, it easy to understand why many of our WWII warriors thought “ Your teenage years should be the best of your life.” Many of my generation were raised as if they were entitled. It wasn’t that their parents didn’t work their asses off to give them a better life, most did. It was that they didn’t require their children to do anything, even requiring them to attend church or not lie, to get what their children wanted.
We didn’t get where we are today overnight, it took several generation of most of us paying no attention to those that believe we owe them. We are now at a point where a huge number of our youth believe not in what Martin Luther King ask for, to be judged by “the content of their character.” To them we owe them because they are. They feel we own them a top dollar job, a good place to live and all the bells and whistles that go with that! The criminals both white-collar and blue-collar believe we have no right to lock them up for their crimes. All to many of them are not asking for Gods mercy, they believe in no god!

The punch-line to all this is: At every level of our society, form petty-thief’s, politician’s, corporate boards of directors, we have people, I call me, me, me, it all about me, people! The shame of it is WE PUT UP WITH IT! I do not believe there is a short-term fix for this, it didn’t come over night and the cure will not come over night. Unless we have World War-III, other than that the long-term fix demands that those of us who believe we are well down the path to destroying everything, we say we stand for need to get involved.
