It's About Making Real Freiends!

So you have empty beds at your small ALF and it’s hard ,you have bills to pay. This is not how you envisioned it when you set out on your dream of opening the facility.

So you go on social media and you post “We have empty beds “ thinking that magically someone will read it and send you resident’s.

Let me give you some advice about the ALF world and business in general. People refer and help people they consider friends!

People inbox me all the time how can we get more referrals? I tell them make as many real friends as possible. They say what do you mean? I tell them I see you have 1,000 Facebook friends most I can tell you went to peoples page who have a lot of followers and you sent them friend request so it appears you have a lot of friends but you really don’t. You haven’t put any effort or time to nourish those relationships. You are just in it to make a connection and hopefully capitalize off of them.

Social Media is like real life it takes time to build relationships. A LOT OF TIME!! it’s leaving hundreds of comments a day. It’s posting about your real life so people see the real you. It’s inboxing people to ask opinions on issues. ITS ABOUT REAL FREAKING INTERACTIONS.

It takes going to events and bumping into people you have had interactions on social media and giving them a hug and saying it’s such a pleasure to finally meet you in person. It’s about MAKING REAL FRIENDS.

Social worker friends , Placement professional friends, Friends that will introduce you to their friends that you then can build friendships

Its the weekend you have plenty of free time I CHALLENGE you to take 1hr and work on being a real person and change your mindset and interact with people just to be nice with no strings attached in the back of your mind. Comment on any achievement they posted ,like their pictures ,leave comments.

Stop with the posting of I have empty beds everyone has empty beds no one is going to help you if you don’t have a friendship.
