It's Time To Change Your Social Media Strategies This 2017

You are losing followers; you have little to no engagement on your posts despite having huge followers.

If you’re still doing the same thing on your social media, IT’S TIME TO CHANGE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIES THIS 2017!

Look at these memes. Yeah, it’s so funny but it’s stating facts. (I stopped and laughed for a minute while reading those memes. Lol)

Anyways, as you can see, there are a lot of resources, platforms, tools, and software available to use for automation to save a lot of time and work.

Since I started working from Virtual Assistant to Social Media Manager, I always have the habit of signing up on a lot of tools that offer free trials to test if their products or services will work for me especially for my clients.

For testing 2 tools, “Tool A” might offer more features and a lower price compare to “Tool B”. But if “Tool B” is friendly-user, easy to learn, publish posts well, deliver easy-to-understand reports, and analytics, but a bit pricey, I’d choose B.

No, I’m not going to promote any social media tools nor give any negative reviews to existing tools that I have tried and tested before.

Since most tools offer productive benefits, my points are…

  • How You Use Tools Effectively
  • How IT affects your Social Media Accounts
  • How Your Social Media Accounts affect your FOLLOWERS and PROSPECT CUSTOMERS!
Markets are changing fast. Many Digital Marketers shared their strategies from the past years.

In 2015, “Inbound Marketing” was the most trending strategy in Online Business.

In 2016, Every Marketers were talking about “Influencer Marketing”.

This 2017, Sam Hurley , the #1 Digital Marketer is talking about “Content Curation” which is related to “Influencer Marketing” with the use of “Inbound Marketing”.

Let’s assume that you are using these strategies. Perhaps, you might be asking yourself now about “what else you should do to increase engagements on your social media accounts?”

First thing first and the most important thing that drives followers to your social media, or the reasons why you’re driving followers away is YOUR POST/CONTENT itself.

The Reasons Why You’re Losing Followers:

1.  Over-promotional or it’s all about me content and please like/share it. #hashtagrelevant to be seen.

People are not going to like it nor share it. If you’re scrolling posts on your Facebook timeline, for example, you have noticed that some dumb or nonsense posts were trending and wondered how and why, right?!

The answer is, people share where they can relate on a post no matter how nonsense or dumb it is!

“It’s the emotions that they felt on posts, stories, blogs, videos, memes, infographics, cute pictures of dogs and cats, funny nonsense things that made them share it and even tag their friends!”

Solution: Instead of posting the best features of your products or services today, perhaps you might create a relatable meme that is connected about what you offer? No one will resist a good laugh.

2. Too Many, Too Little Posts

All Facebook pages and Instagram accounts who post a lot are just annoying. Unless, posts are entertaining like @9gag!

Too Little posts…

Okay, “the frequency of posts on Facebook and Instagram must be 1-2 posts per day. I think I might do the same on Twitter habit”

No! just NO! (on Twitter) I’m an active user of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I’m constantly observing accounts that perform well and those who do not including annoying people that I followed then muted!

Yes, too many posts of Facebook and Instagram pages are annoying and they are meant to be unfollowed!

On the other hand, Twitter is meant to use for interaction, tweet and don’t forget to retweet other tweets!

Use mention, ask, initiate a conversation, and use it for social listening!

3.  Reach VS. Building Relationships

Social Media Guru says spend more on ads to make more sales. This is true, if and only if it’s done in the right way!

From the “One Minute Entrepreneur” book, which I received as a gift last year, the author stated that you should know your numbers.

The author was referring on the number of people that you have to reach and knowing how many you can convert to sales.

“You’re going to get 10 to 12 NO’s in able to get 1 YES from all your prospect customers.”

Since the author was offering ticket for a public speaking event in face-to-face, at that time, his statement was true.

In Digital Marketing, this IS NOT true.

And many people have tried to boost thousands of impressions but converted nothing but that doesn’t mean that it’s not working.

The professionals on ads have lost a lot a couple of thousand dollars before they gained more than hundred thousands and millions of dollars!

You must understand that campaigns need trials and errors before you’ll perfect to reach the right target market! Also, you will experience that you need thousands of reach before you even get your 1st sale.

I am inspired by the story that I read this morning. A story how he made $100,000 through selling t-shirts on teespring platform in just 5 months!

I knew that the title was an old tactic in order to get click a certain blog. And the title seems like a scam to me.

However, his story was constantly losing money on ads. Yet, he spent and continued to make an effort what should be the best designs of shirt.

He expected he would make sales from his well-designed tees, but it turned out to be huge disappointments until he saw “meme” on social media and added a little creativity and used it as a print on shirt.

Well, he just made his target sales and his focus was on the designs, targeting, and a lot of retargeting, he lost money again but get obsessed to have the right audience and designs in order to make sales.

This strategy will work in any type of business. You just really have to be entertaining.

Focus, always focus on your content and the right market. Sales isn't going to happen overnight and you might not make any sales in a few months. It takes time! The positive side is, you are building a great marketing foundation for your business.

This strategy can also help you to build relationships with your followers, gain more followers from organic shares, and work how you can turn them into paying customers later.

The dot com millionaire bloggers started on creating a lot of useful content on their website for more than a year then applied marketing techniques.

Their focus was on content and building readers first.

So, make sure that you have built a strong marketing foundation before you work on the “sales process” part.

More Tips:

  • Check if your tools are delivering posts well from the posts that you scheduled. I noticed that sometimes, the delivered posts look awful on some social media platforms.
  • To build effective relationships, compliment, add more information, share content, and initiate a conversation regarding common interests (not offering a product). This process takes time but it’s worth it.
  • To increase organic reach, use relevant hashtags.
  • To increase thousands of organic reach on Instagram, it takes a lot of interaction like sending many likes and following active followers.
  • You can get leads on twitter through “Advanced Search”.
  • You can use Facebook groups to build your empire. (slowly but surely)
  • Keep using Inbound Marketing (adding useful and entertaining content)
  • Reach Influencers. It can be done through negotiation.
  • Content Curation will give both benefits for influencers and for you.
