It’s Women’s Wednesday at SimScale!

Get to Know Lisa

It's Women's Wednesday at SimScale, and today, we would like to introduce Lisa, who is a Talent Acquisition Manager and joined SimScale more than 2.5 years ago. She has been in Talent Acquisition for over 6 years and is very passionate about finding and engaging talent across the globe.

Lisa, what is your role here at SimScale?

I’m a Talent Acquisition Manager at SimScale and part of the People Team. I’ve been recruiting for all of our teams over the past 2.5 years and thoroughly enjoy bringing new talent to SimScale and seeing them grow. Besides talent acquisition, I am also involved in other areas of the People team. For example, making sure that our new starters have a smooth onboarding experience but also other areas like implementing a buddy and mentor program, or setting up a DE&I diversity strategy at SimScale. I enjoy working in a rather small team as it allows me to work above and beyond just recruitment.

What is your background?

I’m originally from Germany, born in Bavaria but am a Swabian by heart. I moved to Munich in 2011 for my studies and have lived in the city on and off since then. I enjoy that it’s a very international city yet still quite traditional with all of the Bavarian culture. My biggest hobby is traveling. I have always been super passionate about seeing the world, getting to know different cultures, and am always on the lookout for my next destination to travel to.

What brought you to SimScale?

I guess I brought my American husband to Germany and he introduced me to SimScale in 2020. He’s been part of the company since 2018 and while I was looking for jobs in 2020, he forwarded my CV, and about 2 weeks later I was hired and already started working!

What has been your biggest accomplishment at SimScale?

I love that at SimSale you get a lot of autonomy to work on interesting tasks, implement new processes, and broaden your scope of work on a quarterly basis. You really get to question the status quo and can drive change if you’re committed and engaged. We’re constantly evolving and I’m happy to see that we’ve been able to improve our careers page, permanently review our interview as well as onboarding processes, and so many more things in the People team.

What are you proud of?

I’m proud to see that I have been able to bring many new team members to SimScale. It really excites me to see them make this new step in their career journey or oftentimes even move to a new country! Obviously, we’re never perfect, but it’s been great to see how much we have improved our entire employee experience and lifecycle, all the way from recruitment to onboarding, career growth, and beyond. And not to mention, my personal growth has been tremendous too. Not having worked in the simulation industry before, my learning curve is still steep, which I really like. I’m always excited to recruit for roles that are completely new to me as I find it very fascinating what complex technologies my colleagues work with.

Biggest challenge?

I enjoy having to get out of my comfort zone and being faced with a challenge. That’s why I enjoy working at SimScale. Although it’s fast-paced and at times can be a bit chaotic, it really never gets boring!

What excites you?

I’m very excited about connecting with people from different backgrounds and getting to know them and their stories. I thoroughly enjoy working in talent acquisition and the People Team because I get to interact with different people on a daily basis.

What makes you you?

I would say that I’m an empathetic, positive, and open-minded person. I don’t mind if you change your mind a thousand times, I’ll adjust to it and will make the best out of it for all of us. :)

Thank you for sharing, Lisa!
