January 6 2021 is a day to never forget.

January 6 2021 is a day of dishonor. At the end of that day I came away with three fundamental observations.

1.      A day of embarrassment that speaks to our disregard of the rule of law in the United States. 

2.      The absolute lack of leadership, that has been a part of our government over the last 20 years, creating political divisiveness. Effectively removing one of the legs on the 3-legged stool of our government, COMPROMISE. 

I would be remiss if the leadership of our current executive branch was not upbraided. Leadership of followers is not leadership, rather nothing more than a shepherd watching sheep. Leadership of a country with its diversity of; opinion, race, creed and or persuasion, is getting our community to work and coordinate together to improve our country for the whole. We have experienced the absolute opposite stewardship the last 4 years.

3.      I have been acquiring a lot of reading over the breaching of the capital and was struck with the visual impact of the white wave of “insurgents” that briefly took the capital and stopped the “peoples business”. There were reporters trapped in the building and described interactions with Police and breachers. 

The Journalists; Zolan Kanno-Youngs, Sabrina Tavernise and Emily Cochrane captured the following;

"An officer with the Capitol Police tried to reason with the crowd. “You guys just need to go outside,” he said to a man in a green backpack.

Asked why the police were not forcing the mob out, the officer said, “We just got to let them do their thing for now.

”Another officer stood by a stairway, watching everything unfold and answering a few questions, including directing a woman to the bathroom. One protester came up to him and shouted in his face, “Traitor!” When another man approached to apologize to the officer, the officer replied, “You’re fine.” “Everybody’s been OK today, except that guy,” he said, motioning to the yeller. Most of the crowd in the Crypt just milled around. A young man in a red Trump hat smoked a cigarette. Several men shouted and screamed. A man in a backpack with two American flags jumped underneath a chandelier, yelling, “Whose house,” as the crowd answered, “Our house.” The sound boomed and reverberated around the tile and marble as the police looked on."

What first came to my mind was how Trumps “law and order party”, (notice I didn’t say Republican) would have reacted if the breachers of the Capital were a part of the Black Lives Matter movement.  The response would have been drastically different. 

It saddens and embarrasses me to visualize Trumps Law and Order actions inflicted on people not a part of his following. He is not the leader of the free world, rather the leader of trump world and must be stopped.
