Java Developer – Brussels (Belgium) – Freelance 12 Months +

For my insurance client in Brussels, I am looking for a freelance Java developer who, during the development process, thinks along about the design of our applications, designs and describes them functionally.

He or she will monitor the developments from scoping to testing and in production setting. For this you work closely with business, but also with the project team and colleagues from other teams, always under the leadership of a project manager.

You apply the Agile principles and help implement DevOps pipelines. This means that your responsibility as a Java developer goes further than just developing!

Key Task Package:

- You are responsible for the technical analysis and Java development

- You participate in the design of the functional architecture

- You participate in determining the IT solution

- As part of a community you will support other Java developers

- You coordinate with various analysts, project leaders and IT teams

- You carry out the unit tests and help with the integration tests

- You participate in research into new technologies

Functional & Technical Skills:

- You have at least 2 years of experience in Java development. You are Dutch or French speaking.

- You communicate fluently in English

- You have an affinity with complex IT integrations

- You are familiar with concepts such as XML, SOAP, REST and JSON

- You have knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle

- You have knowledge of development tools such as Jenkins, Maven and Sonar (or similar solutions)

- Knowledge of Docker and Azure is a plus

- Knowledge of Java spring framework is a plus
