Hi Jay, tell us about yourself, what keeps you going in your role?

In my role as MD Digital, Corporate Units & India at BT Group, I am responsible for driving the transformation and operation of the systems that support BT Group’s colleagues in running and delivering for the business. I also support Digital's growth and community in India.

I believe that continuous learning and personal development is critical in any role. I see each role I’ve taken on throughout my career as a new learning opportunity which has contributed to my career progression.

Learning is a never-ending journey that enhances my skills and prepares me to face any challenges in my career.  I have been with BT Group for 15 years now and over the years, I have gained deep understanding of the telecommunications industry, developed a diverse skill set, and honed the ability to adapt to the every evolving environment.  These experiences have prepared me to  transition to the corporate unit.

How do you find time to learn?

Given the busy schedules most professionals have, I acknowledge that it is indeed difficult to find time to learn. Learning is important for both career growth and personal satisfaction. I strongly advocate "bite-size learning," where people can leverage learning opportunities at their convenience. I also feel that you need to be creative in finding time and utilize different learning methodologies that suit your preferences.

Importantly, acquiring digital skills in today’s competitive landscape has become very crucial. Acquiring critical digital skills not only enables effective customer engagement but also opens up diverse opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Today, there are multiple platforms that offer a wide range of content and resources that cater to individual preferences and interests. Additionally, I also find value in interacting with colleagues to learn from their experiences.

Can you talk us through Digital Campus?

Absolutely! Digital campus holds a very significant place in my heart, and I am very proud of my team who has built such a brilliant platform for learning. Digital campus have the potential to revolutionize the way education is delivered and accessed.

The most amazing part is that it helps colleagues access curated learning content from around the world. In the context of BT Group's transformation from a telco to a techco, I believe that self-development and acquiring new skills are pivotal. Digital Campus is a fantastic initiative that provides the right content to help employees stay relevant and contribute to the company's transformation.

Personally, Digital Campus allows me to structure my learning using pathway and gives me the flexibility to learn at my own pace.

Jason Perkins always used to say this to me, "Work hard for your organisation, but even harder for your own self". I have personally seen Jay Doshi living that philosophy. Brilliant Jay.

Amazing :-)
