Jigsaw Pieces

Jigsaw Pieces

It was a close call. I was careless…

My thoughts had been dancing in an explosion of directions. I had just left the hairdresser in preparation for a speaking event last night and I was waiting on the curbside for my Uber taxi.

As the rain began falling softly, I checked up and down… up and down… a few times.

Finally, my shiny maroon ride pulled up on the opposite side. My mind was still racing with many ideas as I began darting across the cobbled road.

I leapt three paces and then felt an unmistakable rush. A fast-paced car - close... too close behind me.

A shudder…

A frightening realization…

The breeze of terror from a could-have-been-fatal encounter consumed every cell of my being.

One careless step into the road, without checking.

The replay of the possibility was a whirlwind in my mind.

But then, a resolute conviction:

I AM STILL HERE.

Every minute of every day that I am alive means that I have a purpose. I am a significant part of the jigsaw puzzle of humanity, and while I am here, what I do matters.

I have a choice in every action I take each day:

  • Whether I build up or break down using the words I speak
  • Whether I live with integrity, compassion and empathy
  • Whether I choose to be kind daily regardless of my circumstances
  • Whether I search for the good or dwell in a cesspool of negativity
  • Whether I judge or seek to understand

It all matters.

All. Of. It.

Every minute of every day that you are here, you have a purpose. At this exact moment and each moment of every breath you take, you are part of an exquisite ever-changing jigsaw puzzle.

You are the only piece that fits perfectly into one space. No other piece can replace it.

If you are feeling insignificant,

If you are questioning your worth in the world,

If you are not sure of the tremendous impact you have,

I am here to remind you that who you are matters.

As life begins and ends, the image of the global jigsaw changes. But while you are here, you are an irreplaceable part of it.

Don’t ever underestimate your incredible value. Don’t ever underestimate the potential for hope and healing that you have to offer this world just through being alive.

Just through being exactly who you already are.

With love,

Naomi
