Joint Statement between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China
At the invitation of H.E. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan paid an official visit to China from June 4 to June 8, 2024.
The two sides had candid and in-depth exchanges of views on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations as well as regional situation and international landscape and reached extensive consensus on further strengthening the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promoting practical cooperation in various areas, and on international and regional issues of mutual interest. Both the countries have issued a joint statement reaffirming their steadfast commitment to their enduring strategic partnership, mutual cooperation, and shared vision for regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.

▶️Pakistan-China relations have been rock-solid and unshakable since establishing diplomatic ties 73 years ago.
▶️China prioritizes its relationship with Pakistan, which is the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy.
▶️The two sides enjoy unbreakable strategic mutual trust, fruitful cooperation, and close coordination on international affairs.
▶️Both sides condemned the terrorist attack on the Chinese convoy in Pakistan and emphasized the importance of combating terrorism together.
▶️The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has significantly transformed Pakistan's development and promotes integrated growth.
▶️The two sides will expedite the implementation of consensus from the 13th CPEC Joint Coordination Committee meeting.
▶️Upgrading ML-I is a strategically significant project under CPEC for Pakistan's socio-economic development.
▶️The Karakoram Highway realignment project is crucial for smooth land-based connectivity between Pakistan and China.
▶️Enhancing Khunjerab-Sost pass infrastructure will boost trade and people-to-people exchanges.
▶️Gwadar Port's development, including the new airport, is vital for regional connectivity and transshipment.
▶️Industrial cooperation under CPEC will be strengthened through a new Action Plan, attracting Chinese investment in Special Economic Zones.
▶️Mining cooperation will be promoted through long-term planning, joint research, and investment in Pakistan’s mining industry.
▶️China expressed willingness to cooperate in developing Pakistan’s offshore oil, gas resources, and natural gas hydrate.
▶️Agricultural cooperation will be enhanced with practical projects for modernizing Pakistan's agriculture.
▶️The two sides will enhance cooperation in the information technology sector, including policy coordination and talent training.
▶️Energy cooperation between Pakistan and China will be strengthened, focusing on clean energy and modernizing energy systems.
▶️China will implement more livelihood programs in Pakistan and assist in post-disaster reconstruction.
▶️Further consultations under the Phase II of the Pakistan-China Free Trade Agreement will explore mutual concessions.
▶️Financial sector cooperation will be strengthened, supporting each other in multilateral financial forums.
▶️Collaboration in science and technology will be expanded, including joint research and emerging technologies like AI.
▶️China will support Pakistan in organizing cultural and tourism exchanges, enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields.
▶️Both sides are committed to addressing climate change, enhancing communication, and supporting disaster management collaboration.
▶️Pakistan and China’s armed forces maintain high-level strategic trust and cooperation, crucial for regional stability.
▶️Peace and stability in South Asia are essential, with China supporting a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
▶️The two sides advocate for a multipolar world and inclusive globalization, opposing unilateralism and promoting multilateralism.
▶️Cooperation on Afghanistan aims to support stability, inclusive governance, and counter-terrorism efforts.
▶️The fundamental solution to the Gaza crisis lies in the Two-State solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
▶️During the visit, 23 agreements and MOUs were signed covering cooperation in various sectors.
▶️Prime Minister Sharif invited Chinese leaders to visit Pakistan, and the two sides will maintain communication through diplomatic channels.
