The Journey to Empowering Your Business

The Journey to Empowering Your Business

Over the years, I noticed a critical pain point: the sustainability of small businesses and startups. My mission has become helping them fail less and succeed more. I bring a unique perspective from my executive experiences across the customer journey, from business development to retention and renewal. This holistic view allows me to understand the dynamics within different organizational structures and their impact on business success.

The Common Challenges

Regardless of the size or maturity of the business, many face similar issues:

  • Retention and Loyalty: Entrepreneurs often struggle with retaining talent due to a lack of leadership and management skills.
  • Overcapacity: Many businesses operate like they are shoving 10 pounds of tasks into a 5-pound bag, leading to burnout.
  • Lack of a Clear Plan: Businesses often operate without a well-defined business model or product-market fit, relying too much on gut feelings.

Finding the Balance

My approach is to help businesses find their stride by understanding their capacity and velocity. It's about managing resources effectively without burning out your team. Retention is critical to growth, as keeping your clients allows for upselling and cross-selling opportunities, which drive revenue.

The Strategic Approach

When working with clients, I understand their vision and business model. This involves analyzing their financials and developing a strategic plan that integrates their personal and professional goals. It's about creating a work-life integration plan that aligns with their long-term vision.

Implementation and Execution

A plan is only as good as its implementation. Sadly, 67% of strategic plans never get executed. I help businesses develop the discipline and focus needed to implement their plans, transforming habits and behaviors within the organization. This often requires a coach or partner to guide them through the process, ensuring they stay on track and make necessary adjustments.

Success Stories

  1. Established Playground Company: This CEO in Texas built a successful business over 15 years but hit a wall. We identified the need to expand her sales team and right-sized compensation to take pressure off sales and operations. By the end of our work, she exceeded her revenue goal, growing from $15.5 million to nearly $21 million, while experimenting with Fridays to give herself and the team some half days in the summer, then extended it for the rest of the year.
  2. Communications Agency: A single mom running a communications agency for women in STEM was struggling with pipeline issues and scaling her bespoke services. We developed a strategic plan that streamlined her processes and improved her sales skills. This resulted in a 27% year-over-year revenue growth and secured a significant retainer with a major university.

The Four Principles of Business Agility

My coaching is anchored around the principles of business agility:

  1. Continuous Journey: Business agility is a continuum, not a destination.
  2. Range of Capabilities: Embracing strong capabilities can bring material change.
  3. No Single Path: There’s no one-size-fits-all framework for business agility.
  4. Behavior-driven: Success is achieved through specific, observable actions within the organization.
