The answer is, "It is said that Lord Shiv allocated the job of guarding each of the 52 Shaktipeeths to one Bhairava. There are said to be 52 forms of Lord Bhairav, which are considered a manifestation of Shiva himself."

Kottai Bhairav near Thirumayam Fort, is regarded as another mandir - having very powerful vibration, with almost every vehicle passing this Mandir stopping over for a quick worship by the devotees. Needless to mention that this temple is also a favourite temple for local politicians too. Chettinad Region in Tamilnadu is famous for being blessed with appreciable number of Lord Shiv Mandirs. It can provide relief from poverty, diminishes bad emotions, controlling one"s ego, vanquishing and defeat of enemies of all types, despair, rage, and pain caused by sorrow, attachment, and illusion. It consists of eight poems, It is said that our spirit will reach Lord Kaal Bhairava's feet in the after-life if we read or recite the Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam.
Despite the fact that HE being one of Lord Shiv's most ferocious incarnations, He is, nonetheless, quite sympathetic. Death is ruled by Lord Kaal Bhairav. HE is referred to as the Lord of the panch-bhoothaas. Lord Indra worships him as the Supreme Authority. A black dog serves as Kaal Bhairav's vehicle.
