Visualising London's Skyscraper Race
A recent surge in skyscraper construction is underway in London, with dozens of high-rise projects (at least 20 stories) receiving approval in just the last two years. This "race for space" is driven by London's critical need for more housing and modern, sustainable office space. With land prices at a premium and limitations on greenbelt development, building upwards is a strategic solution.
At VU.CITY, we believe that visualising the future of our cities is crucial. It allows us to understand the impact of development, plan for potential challenges, and ultimately, create more liveable and sustainable urban environments.
Which is why it was great to see the VU.CITY platform being used in these articles from the Evening Standard and MailOnline , to effectively communicate this change.
Click on the links below to watch the videos and make sure you keep your eyes peeled for The NLA Tall Building Report will be launched on the 9th of May for further insights.

See Beyond "The Slab": Visualising the South Bank Development's Impact on Views
London's South Bank is a cultural hub with iconic views enjoyed by millions. The proposed redevelopment of the former ITV Studios, nicknamed "The Slab," has sparked controversy due to its potential impact on these protected views.
We wanted to test VU.CITY 's Viewsheds feature on this development to highlight how you can easily:
👉 Identify protected views
👉 Visualise the impact of proposed developments
👉 Make data-driven decisions
👉 Stop guesswork and start with confidence
We believe in informed discussions around development projects. Our Viewsheds feature allows for clear visualisation of a development's impact on surrounding areas. So watch the video to see this in action, and in the meantime, we want to know what you think! Share your thoughts in the comments. ✍️
