Keeping busy during Covid19
During the Covid19 quarantine - I was asked to help a local American Legion. I'm not a member...I don't think I have any family for a few generations that were even in the service. But, for those that know me - the American Legion is my Saturday hang out to play Bingo. And, I never miss an opportunity to volunteer - or, paint. I can tell you one thing about the Legion members - I have met some of the kindest, most hard-working, and giving people just by supporting them on Saturday's to play Bingo.
The Riders there sponsor my daughters 12U youth (boys) baseball team. And, occasionally they ride out in full"biker gear" to support our team. They also invite us on some of their charity rides.
NOTE *If you see a big group of bikers on the road....forget your misguided thoughts. I guarantee that they are most likely on their way to do something charitable! They always invite my girls to ride with them in parades and other events. They thrive on being a "family" and helping others.
Any cause can become a reason for them to meet up for breakfast or lunch and take a nice ride together - all while helping others! So, it wasn't difficult for me to accept helping them while they cleaned and fixed up their post during Quarantine. So each day, after finishing work - I have gone to work on some paintings for them. A few hours a day, day after day - I got closer to finishing. And lastnight - I finally finished their logo - the eagle!
I have never painted an eagle. I don't think I have ever painted a bird. But - in the end, I am proud of the Legion Riders logo that I painted for them! It was an honor to volunteer for them for a change! I hope that many people attending events at Post 145 enjoy the wall that I have painted there for many years to come!
