Key Takeaways from Opticon 2024

Key Takeaways from Opticon 2024

I had the pleasure of attending last week’s Opticon 2024 conference held by Engine Room partner Optimizely, a premiere all-in-one digital marketing management platform. The event was full of opportunities for networking, and for learning—especially about Optimizely’s recent acquisition of NetSpring, a data-warehouse alternative.

#1: NetSpring’s next-gen platform will be a key tool for business leaders and entrepreneurs in 2025

Just recently—as of September 30th—Optimizely announced their acquisition of NetSpring. If you know anything about NetSpring, you’ll probably agree that this feels like a natural partnership.

NetSpring is a next-gen customer analytics platform that offers a detailed view of customer journeys via modern data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, and Redshift. NetSpring unifies disparate data sources to pull key insights that illustrate the full customer lifecycle, including acquisition metrics, product usage, and business performance.

As a powerhouse source of customer insights, NetSpring’s data analytics capabilities will certainly play well with Optimizely’s comprehensive platform, allowing customers to view actionable data and easily translate it into their digital marketing and experimentation. Customers will now be able to make the most highly attuned campaigns and educated A/B tests, utilizing two of the strongest platforms in these arenas combined powerfully into one.

In the era of digital transformation and personalized marketing, this partnership is sure to be a game-changer for leaders looking to make highly educated marketing decisions, create and execute efficient, data-driven campaigns, and ensure that customer preferences lead the way in 2025. #2: Opal Embedded AI is the next great virtual marketing helper

Optimizely introduced the public to their new ‘embedded AI’, Opal. Opal is a tool for generating content, helping marketers achieve robust content assets in a timely and effective manner. But, that’s not all Opal can do—this tool can also illustrate actionable insights about audience needs and provide ‘next-best actions’ to help guide marketing plans.  Features include:

  • Campaign brief ideation

  • Campaign-specific asset generation

  • Copy generator

  • Brief-based task generation

  • Suggested segments

  • Customer summary generator

Data-driven marketers will surely use Opal’s features, in tandem with Optimizely and NetSpring, to complete the trifecta of intelligent, insightful marketing planning. When combining these tools, marketers achieve an efficient and integrated, holistic digital marketing setup that makes conceptualizing, creating, adjusting, and implementing content a breeze. This is seriously cutting-edge stuff, and I can speak for Engine Room’s team when I say we can’t wait to help our clients utilize these features.

#3: San Antonio is the place to be!

Aside from all of the exciting possibilities on the horizon at Optimizely, I must say, I was quite impressed with San Antonio! My final takeaways are this:

  • TPC San Antonio is a fantastic golf course in the Hill Country of San Antonio and I recommend you play it if you find yourself in the area.

  •  The food at 18 Oaks is to die for—make your reservation and show up hungry!

In conclusion, Opticon 2024 was a “digital Onederland.” It was great to learn and play alongside other digital marketing and technology pros, and I look forward to sharing the newest capabilities from Optimizely and NetSpring with Engine Room clients.
