One of the essential ingredients for success is motivation, that hunger of desire to achieve our goals. It is what propels us forward toward our goals.
To be successful, you must have that fire in your belly that drives you to keep going, no matter what. That motivation makes the difference between those who achieve their dreams and those who do not.
Believe in Yourself
When we think we cannot accomplish something, it is easy to give up before we have even started. Having this kind of limiting mindset prevents us from achieving our full potential. We will only reach our goals when we believe in ourselves.
Every year, people start to think about their New Year's resolutions as the calendar closes. It is an opportunity to reflect on the past twelve months and set intentions for the next twelve. However, only some succeed in keeping those resolutions. Sadly, most people make grand plans but do little follow-through to make those New Year's resolutions a reality.
Achieving success is never easy, but it is always worth it. I often reflect on my accomplishments and wonder how I reached them, and I know it was due in large part thanks to my determination. If you want something enough, you will find a way to make it happen. All it takes is taking small steps each day until you get closer and closer to where you want to be.
The Right Mindset
Over the past 25+ years, I have had numerous opportunities to learn from and work with incredible people. These ordinary people became extraordinarily successful because they had the ambition to achieve seemingly impossible goals. They accomplished extraordinary things because they never gave up on themselves and pursued their goals—despite hearing from others who told them they could not succeed.
The human spirit is fascinating! As humans, we are always ready to reach for the impossible. We all have different things that we hunger for: love, belonging, safety, success...the list goes on. I challenge you to aim for success in every area of your life and never give up on your dreams. With the right mindset, no one and nothing can stand in your way of achieving greatness!

A Personal Story
I have always been passionate about learning. Science, history, culture, art, music—you name the topic. One of those topics that fascinate me is understanding and learning new languages, which allow you to explore other cultures and gain a deeper understanding of our world.
At thirty-eight years of age, I began my journey to learn a new language. If someone had told me then that I could do it, I never would have believed them. But I decided to try it anyway and found that I loved learning new languages. Learning a new language opened doors for me to understand not just another country but a different culture.
That's how my goal to learn Brazilian Portuguese began. I spent over eight months studying Portuguese with the help of free online courses on YouTube. I also started watching Netflix movies and TV shows in Portuguese and listening to new music artists from Brazil on Spotify.
One day, while watching a film in Portuguese, I realized I could understand the dialogue. I was shocked. Over the next few months, almost a year into pursuing this goal, I felt confident enough to begin practicing reading, writing, and speaking in a new language. A few months later, I was satisfied enough to tell my employer I could help with our business operations in Latin America, including Brazil. Today almost eight years later, I am grateful to be fluently trilingual and speak, read, and write in English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
This simple goal of learning a new language gave me a more profound and broader cultural understanding of Brazil and Latin America. Learning a new language has given me new career opportunities that I never imagined. I want to thank all those who help me practice and develop my language skills in Portuguese – friends, work colleagues, and even clients – for their patience and kindness. I can tell you from personal experience that it is never too late to learn!
Anything is Possible
So, what is one of the keys to success? Having that profound hunger and desire for success is essential. Once you have that, anything is possible. Set your goals high, and don't give up on yourself!
