King of the Free

Martin Luther King, Jr

It is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a Federal holiday.  Are you enjoying your day off?  Take some time today to reflect on the life of this one man who accomplished so much for his community and for America.  Reflect on the blessing it is to live in a country that recognized our faults and treatment of others. We need to strive to build a better home for our children’s generation.  Reflect on how you can make a difference in your circle of influence. It is easy to live everyday for yourself.  It is a challenge to right the wrongs you see around you.

Martin Luther King, Jr. bravely challenged the segregation in our country.  The United States’ constitution echoes what  King proclaimed: all men are created equal.  King championed the rights he had preached, for these rights are in the Bible.  We all have rights and choices that should be ours to make.  America was founded on the idea of welcoming the underdog and giving them a chance to succeed.  MLK was a black pastor who answered the call when God nudged him to fight for civil rights of black Americans.  He eloquently expressed his convictions. He had big dreams that our country would be one with equality for all. What he accomplished in his life took more courage than I can imagine.  He was arrested multiple times for what he did.  He was ultimately assassinated for speaking out and giving others the courage to fight for their rights. Let us not let his sacrifice be in vane.

Even heroes get arrested and sometimes pay the ultimate price.  Don’t shy away from taking a stand for the underdog and doing what’s right even when it is not the easy way.  In making a stand we can encourage others and find true fulfillment in our life.

Moving forward,
